Trump 2025 - Resuming The National Nightmare Of Peace And Prosperity (Part 1)

He gave as good as he got.

Did the master race deserve anything less?

I would have, too, prior to living through a Socialist revolution that nearly succeeded and remains entrenched.

One thing about Socialism, it never looks like REAL Socialism. It always looks like one party rule with total social control.

Except he’s the one who really needed help.

And he’ll get it. This is all for show.

I think he remained relatively calm what I saw.

Is it? If I’ll apply Occam’s razor here it looks pretty bad.

They didn’t have time to rehearse.

I really like what I saw from Vance and Trump’s meeting with Zelensky. Finally some backbone in the White House who negotiates from a position of strength.

The whole war reeks of corruption and racketeering, as most wars do.

I’ll remind everyone that stopping the dying in Korea meant allowing millions to fall to total oppression and a slave society that still persists. The good guys don’t always win total victory and the only good guys I can discern in this war are the people on both sides who are stuck doing the fighting and dying.

I think it’s okay US to say that you don’t want to support Ukraine anymore. There’s no obligations for helping a country you’re not allied with.

But how Trumps administration has handled the situation, specially this meeting in front of the press, was just embarrassing.

It’s interesting to see did this end the peace talks for now (since I reckon Ukraine won’t accept a deal made only by US and Russia), and can European countries replace the hole US aid will leave.

It may appear embarrassing if you compare it to past presidential norms.

Those norms were just voted out, as it becomes increasingly apparent by the day that what we were allowed to view was a theater production with polished actors.

Zelensky is literally an actor.

Zelensky will be back at the table with his head between his legs…he knows he fucked this up and his country will be telling him so

I had always believed that what was shared with the public was an agreed upon outcome that both sides looked like they were in a happy marriage.

What kind of getup was he wearing anyway? I’ve seen him in a suit before, I know he owns one.

Knowing what I know about war, taking back the land Russia occupies isn’t possible without air superiority, which allows for combined arms maneuver warfare to achieve encirclements and rapid advances. This is a war of attrition, not maneuver.

Air superiority isn’t possible without NATO involvement.

Another aspect to consider is the level of danger a decisive Russian defeat would create. If Ukraine could push back to its 2020 borders it could continue pushing into Russia.

Is the community note on that correct?

I don’t see one.

I tend to assume so, but I don’t know anything about that particular source. X is great when you follow great sources. If it were true, I imagine that would be pretty big world news at the moment.

I was basically in the same camp until Obama’s 2nd term, when I really soured on the Dems. Knowing what we’ve learned since Trump’s win, I think there are now two political parties in the USA.

MAGA and Other.

MAGA is broadly Republican still, but it is also forcing a complete realignment of the entire political order. As was evident by Dick Cheney’s endorsement of Harris, Other seems to be The Swamp at the moment.

I’m curious if a new political party emerges. Democrats just aren’t a long-term winning brand, even if they have their flashes of rapid policy enactment and imposing ideological conformity.

They have a hard-core committed base who are total nutjobs although we’re flipping those left and right in Maine. It turns out a LOT of feminists have a BIG problem with boys swinging the girls state track championship.

Plus the dysfunction.

I guess they could try to keep the big resistance tent open, but if they don’t move away from the incompatible ideas like DEI, transgenderism and open borders (slain dragon IMO), they are going to get steamrolled.

Why do you think it’s all for show?

Let’s be honest, we wouldn’t abandon Ukraine and allow Russia to take it. It’s all theater. And if we did, we wouldn’t be the country we claim to be. We would not be exceptional; we’d be no better than the nations we criticize.
