Like the Sierra Leone Civil War. The government hired a South African based private military contractor, Executive Outcomes, to help fight the rebels who were committing mass rape, murder and mutilation against civilians. The rebels named one of their military operations, No Living Thing, which gives an idea of how brutal they were.
Executive Outcomes helped bring about an end to the war. The media of course, portrayed them as this white South African racist military force (the movie Blood Diamond was a reference to them although it was inaccurate and pushed the racist narrative). The reality was that the majority of troops employed by Executive Outcomes were black. But that wouldn’t have fit the narrative of white people killing black people.
Anyway, the UN decided to step in and demand they provide military aid and a peace keeping force, Executive Outcomes was “fired”, and the war ended up starting again and was as brutal as ever. The agenda was to keep an African nation dependent upon the UN and the IMF rather than take care of itself and the liberal media, including Hollywood, helped that outcome come about.
Can’t say about US media, but in Europe religion does not seem to be the dividing factor, it’s more tied to a location.
Africa is wayy less in headlines compared to other areas, like China or US. It’s no surprise of course.
Will 100% agree about the agenda thought. Every media has a agenda. Wether it’s one of the mainstream medias or alternative medias. You can’t reach objectivity.
I don’t see any intentional lying or conspiracies thought, at least where I live.
One of the difference is that in Europe, you have/had newspapers for example, who do not/did not hide the fact they report the news based on political leanings. You had socialist and communist newspapers. You had conservative newspapers. You even had, at one time, anti-Semitic newspapers.
Africa as a whole is a big blind spot for media unless somebody wants to draw attention to something to use it for their own advantage.
There are waves of such atrocious violence and mass murder that sweep through parts of africa so off the charts (our charts) that 70 dead christians isn’t even a blip on the holy-fuck-o-meter.
Warlords and tribes will literally swarm entire regions and chop up the inhabitants with machetes. They’re like ants that just run through and dismember all of their rival colonies.
Yes, 100%.
Same for anyone else with proof of wrongdoing (which I suspect is an uncomfortably large number of politically and socially powerful people).
I do have a hard time believing he would be on this list, though… if he were to have had concrete evidence against him, I think we would have heard it already.
