TRT Recreationally for a Short Time, Anyone?

Hi all.

I’m 45. I was on TRT for 2 years but had to quit due to hair loss and worsening of ED. It was a proper protocol with Cypionate, Anastrozole, HCG, a bit of Cabergoline - all under supervision of a very experienced prominent TRT doctor in Florida. I don’t want to get into details of my protocol as I discussed it in my other threads.

My question is whether it’s possible to take TRT recreationaly for short time with longer breaks in between? I’ve had some improvement in ED at beginning so I wonder if cycling TRT is something that anyone tried and benefited from to get a temporary boost in ED department and energy?

There are steroid cycles and then there is TRT. You can’t ‘cycle TRT’. You can cycle what are known as TRT doses of Testosterone, say 100-150mg per week of testosterone. But you would just be replacing your own test production with exogenous testosterone, shutting your HPTA down, only to have to restart it again after your suboptimal cycle.

This sounds like a recipe for hormonal imbalance, fluctuation and general misery. It doesn’t sound like something that will help with erectile dysfunction.

Did you suggest the above to your TRT doctor? What did he have to say about it?

No, I haven’t, not seeing him now. I remember there was a guy on a TRT forum sharing his experience cycling Testosterone a few moths and Cialis other months. He said otherwise he gets tolerance and nothing works long term, which was exactly my experience with both Testosterone replacement and Cialis. I guess he is the only guy I’ve heard cycling Testosterone…

Unless anyone else can chime in?

There’s no building tolerance to testosterone, no known or documented cases of tolerance to Cialis for that matter. If either stop working after a short time on them, it means TRT isn’t enough on its own to circumvent your medical problem.

ED drugs Viagra and Cialis requires nitric oxide to work. So low levels of nitric oxide means that either will not be as effective or stop working altogether.

I have found in my personal experience TRT and Cialis stop working when my ferritin levels are low normal.

I know, literature says that, but personal experience of many people points to the opposite. Any ER doctor will state that any drug causes tolerance eventually. There are other sex hormones not yet discovered that are produced in the brain besides LH, FSH and whatever else. All those are shut down when T is introduced. Whatever else those hormones supposed to do in the body - not doing anymore. This may manifest as tolerance to T.

The root of my medical problem is undiscovered after 14 years of desperate attempts. So I’m looking for ways to ease phisical and mental suffering which results from this, this the cycling T attempts…In other words, it’s a desperate attempt to at least get some, temporary improvement.

There is no recreational TRT just as there is no recreational thyroid or insulin used as they are intended for clinical use.

I don’t even know why one would do real TRT because this would likely have them needing TRT.

Why not try a shorter half-life, get the hormones swinging wildly like Jatenzo?

The almost constantly elevated testosterone and estrogen from using cypionate can increase serotonin, similar to the effective anti-depressants.

Yes, it’s called “cycling steroids”, and many have been doing it for decades. But, it’s not TRT. TRT is medical treatment, not something you take 3 times a year for the GAINZ

Do you mean Propionate?

Thanks. Can you point me to the right direction to find good protocols for cycling steroids?

This is a basic misunderstanding of pharmacokinetics, and how different medications and hormones act in the body. It’s not surprising that an ER doctor wouldn’t understand. Finding a doctor that understands hormones is very rare.

No, I mean Jatenzo, testosterone undecanoate taken orally which has a 6 hour half-life.

Propionate isn’t well tolerated.

Finding a doctor who would diagnose me is impossible. Trying for 14 years… So I’m on my own.

Is there a protocol with Jatenzo ? Where can I get more information about it?

Yeah, an ER doctor, not a urologist with a specialty in andrology and fertility. There is no tolerance to TRT as you speak of the term.

Do you have symptoms of hypogonadism?

The recommended starting dosage for Jatenzo is 237 mg twice daily.

In the word Jatenzo, just click on it.
