This is my first post since lurking around here and would like to thank all for the amount of info posted about TRT (cannot find any info anywhere else). I just started my TRT yesterday my Doc is hip with the scene. He is starting me out on 200mg of Cyp every 2 weeks (said I can go 100mg once a week if I want). I brought up the topic of hCG with him and he asked if I planned on having any kids - I said it is possible. All ready have 2 great kids and really dont think there will be anymore but hate the idea of my balls shrinking and retreating.
So he was down with hCG, he also is putting me on some Thyroid meds (the score was a little low on the blood work) and I also asked about my Estrogen levels and he kind of laughed. He said he just got back from a TRT Conference in Denver and the Doc speaking said that there is no proof of Estrogen effecting libido and mood and that he would only be concerned if it was in the high range. He wants to do blood work in 3 months but I will ask if we can do it 2-3 weeks and I will also ask if he will have my Estrogen done (pretty sure he will go for it). I will post my blood work that I had done when I can get a copy of it (forgot to ask for it when I was there yesterday). I need some help if anyone knows if there is any studies out there about Estrogen and how I can change his mind.
So I think I will start this as a log about my progression w/TRT. I would like to get my body back when I was 26. I have been lifting on and off most of my life. I was doing pretty good about a year ago and injured myself pretty bad - but will be starting my workouts backup tomorrow.
I am 39yrs old, 5’9 and a fat bastard 220. My goal is to hit 185 - I have been 165 but just wasnt right for me. I was reading an article in my local paper about this guy who was doing TRT and that is when stuff starting clicking about how I was feeling - I went to my Doc and told him I think my T is low so he took some blood for me. He was really cool about the whole thing and called me the next day with my results.
I plan on breaking up my Cyp to a EOD(25mg) and hCG EOD (thanks for the sticky KSman). Got my diet all laid out along with my workouts. My concern is the Estrogen and what I should be looking for. Any help would be awesome! Oh and by the way my Doc shot me up yesterday (man my ass still hurts!) with 100mg but I plan on taking 25mg this Saturday is this OK?
Thanks again for any help and I will be posting blood work soon.
Start EOD injections after one week, or Sunday will do. You are now front loaded and need to get steady levels. I think that T levels will steady out quite fast, but E2 levels may take a bit longer.
Tell the doc to his face, that T:E ratios are very important and that he has been mislead by speaker in Denver. There is an optimal level for E2 and you do not want suboptimal. Furthermore, you really need to control E2 to facilitate fat loss.
Tell him that you want to control E2 near E2=22pg/ml, which is in normal range and that a typical dose to approach that level is 1mg anastrozole per week in divided doses. Ask that you not be forced to self medicate.
Do lab work in 3-4 weeks. Test between injection days.
That is 14.3 on an insulin syringe. The 0.5ml #29 0.5" insulin syringes will do nicely. The Relion house brand at Walmart/Sam’s has a long barrel, easier to read the dose, cheap too [$12.60 per 100]. These inject faster than some of the shorter fatter barreled brands.
So I started my injections 5 days ago - my mood and energy levels are so much better then before. Started cardio 3 days ago (everyday) and started lifting yesterday. My issue is libido and getting it up - no can do and I am a bit worried.
I still don’t have all my scripts filled - picking up my Cyp on Monday but still no hCG. I am wondering if the hCG is going to fix this issue or not. I am aware of E2 lvls and libido but won’t have my next blood work for another 3 weeks to see where it is at. I have started taking Resveratrol hoping if my E is high that it will help lower it. Does anyone else no of any over the counter stuff that will help with estrogen? Thanks for the input.
I read only one report from a guy that was taking 600mg’s a week of Trans-Resveratrol (not just Resveratrol) and after 90 days he said his E2 level tested almost 30% lower than his previous test. I have not seen or heard any other reports so I don’t know…
He didn’t say however if there were any accompanying changes to lower E2 either.
Yes there is other herbal stuff like Chyrsin, Chasteberry, and Avena Sativa just to name a few. But the bottom line is financial; $80.00 a year for liquid adex, or $70.00 for 4 weeks of the Resveratrol that is sold here, or taking six or seven herbal/minerals to lower E2.
I personally like Resveratrol for it’s many other properties such as a prostate cancer inhibitor and COX-2 inhibitor just to name two.
Of course do as you wish, and if you are one of the men that responds to Resveratrol great. Otherwise you’ll spend a lot of money maybe to get zero results.
Edit: HCG is widely known to raise E2 levels in the testes and therefore in the rest of the body too. If you are going to inject HCG, an appropriate AI is really needed.

250iu hCG EOD is a replacement dose for LH. This might not increase testicular estrogen production above that of normal youthful testicles. Where we really see problems is when high doses of hCG are used. And in that case, adex does not reduce T–>E aromatization in the testes. Then when adex doses are pushed higher, T–>E aromatization rates in the other parts of the go lower and might then take E levels in the brain too low. The brain really does need E to work properly.
Some docs try to use hCG only as TRT and increase hCG dosing trying to get higher T levels. Estrogen becomes unmanageable.
Once again KSman, I agree with you as I misstated the facts. Just because the level of E2 may rise in the testes from HCG, it doesn’t necessarily mean serum blood levels will rise too. I was referring to my own experience with HCG and TRT; after I added HCG my E2 levels climbed significantly and I had to increase my adex dosage. I do keep an eye on my E2 levels for my brain, heart, circulatory system, and of course, morning wood.
Well it has been a month so far - here is my 1st blood test results and I should have my results from yesterdays draw tomorrow which I will post (will be interesting to see the difference).
I think I got all the important stuff (there was tons) let me know if I missed anything. No E2 on my first test but I asked the Doc to do it on this one that I just got.
Currently taking Cyp (200mg every 2 weeks - but I have broken it up to EoD), hCG 250iu EoD, Anastrozole .25mg EoD.
Your serum glucose is worrying suggesting syndrome X, aka metabolic disorder, insulin resistance. You need further tests and chromium piconolate and/or low dose metaformin.
Take high potency B vitamin supplements and folic acid to improve HDL.
TSH is getting up there. Are you getting iodine from iodized salt and seafood?
Just to clarify KSman that was my 1st test a month ago and will have my current blood work soon - just waiting on my Free Test to come back.
Yea that is what I asked the Doc - I should be fasting no? (which I did not - had a big nasty lunch before he took my blood). His response was that he was looking at the sizes of cells - which I think I caught him on and he had to make something up.
He wasn’t to concerned about the results wanted to start me on Cyp first and then retest in 3 months. I actually just saw the Doc for my results of the blood test that I just took the other day. T was around 827 and E2 was like 19.?? - going off memory he will be emailing me the results as soon as they finish the Free T results.
I am taking Vit D, I am also on Thyroid pill he prescribed, no gyno and blood pressure is good. My E2 is a bit low should I skip 1 pill (.25mg) cant really make them any smaller. Oh yea and my current test my red blood count is good but the size of the cell has increased - he said it could be because of alcohol but I haven’t had a drink in over a week. The result wasn’t crazy high - something like 1 point above the range. I am not sure what may have caused this and he said next test we will take a look at it again and see where it is at.
Oh yea also I am currently doing the V diet and have been on it for over a week.
Well I just did a little research on the size of my red blood cells looks like the lack of B12 and folic acid is probably the cause - so I am going to pick up a B complex today.

I went to my GP with various symptoms of low T. He did a blood test and sent me to a urologist. Since my initial blood test was in the afternoon, the urologist sent me for an early morning test and I have a follow up appointment next week for the results. I asked about an estrogen test and he said he wanted to concentrate on the testosterone first. I was thinking about looking into some OTC stuff before my appointment, but thought that I’m paying good money for a specialist and at least until I get a baseline and get started on whatever he’ll put me on I don’t want to be “polluting” any tests I have. Myself at least, I’m planning to skip anything other than what the doctor gives me until I can see the results from it.
