Good for you. WHY? Further, why would someone choosing to eat like that be surprised that it is harder to gain muscle because of it?
Not eating chicken wont be holding him back, as a pescatarian he can still eat fish and provided he eats enough of it as a substitute for when we would eat beef/chicken etc that is not going to be causing the issue. He still has access to animal proteins on that eating style. Dude just needs to man up and eat more. Trying carb only snacks between meals to stimulate hunger was a suggestion by one of the more prominent authors on the site. The insulin spike and subsequent blood sugar drop should leave you craving the food you clearly need.

I tend to snack on a lot of cliffbars although those are pretty filling they’re only 200 calories each

Then substitute them with a less filling higher calorie snack?

suggestions?

Honestly, when I was from like 140, I think I started off at like 2kcals/day (was all I could stuff down in a day) and just added things per day. I now consume between 4k-5k/day or so.).

One simple way is to have certain things that you can add into your daily intake.

So, let’s say you start out at 2.2kcals on Day One.

Have certain foods that you know the value of:
1 tablespoon PB: 100 cals
1 piece string cheese: 80 cals
1 can of tuna: 100 cals
1 can mackerel: 400 cals
1 can salmon: 600 cals
etc

The next day, eat exactly that but toss in, say 2 tablespoons of PB and one piece of string cheese and two fish oils. Then you’ll be near 2.5k. Do that for a few days. Then, add in another 300 cals of stuff. Or take out the PB and string cheese and eat a can of salmon to have a net increase. Every day for a few days/a week/whatever. Remember, it’s not supposed to necessarily be fun: it’s part of a goal. Part of your training. Try to make it solid foods instead of whey if possible.

why the f*ck do people get caught up in not eating certain animals? WTF, 30k years ago no one cared about that bullshit. You ate to survive. Makes no sense to avoid foods we’ve eaten since the beginning of man.

If you want to get all “save the environment”, that’s one’s choice to try and help. Or if you want to avoid animal suffering you choose to forgo all animal products, more power to ya.

Other than those 2 reasons, I can’t think of a logical reason to do so.

My reasons are partly about animal cruelty (yes I thinhk its less cruel to eat fish as opposed to other animals), part about environmental conservation (like how much land is wasted raising cattle), and how unclean/unhealthy the meat industry is in America. I’m trying to not go into too much detail because I don’t want to turn this into a political discussion

also if you think about it, if one were to buy a meat from a properly raised cow under prestine conditions, the cost to nutrition ratio of that to a decent piece of salmon are very different.

what the hell else is the land for? Pasturing cattle is a great thing to do with land. Sure beats building highways and shit all over it.

buy from local farmers if you’re worried about cruelty and unclean industry. Most likely, you’ll be helping some good people make a living while you’re at it.

I live in chicago, not many local cattle farmers around here. and that same land could be used to grow other crops which can output enough food to feed far more people than the cattle would… there are a lot of starving people in this world

OP: less arguing about animal cruelty, more eating. As you are reading this, you better be housing a can of salmon with some whey mixed in.

thank you!, I actually had 1/2lbs of salmon and a whey shake about 2 hours ago, probably will have another whey shake in 2 hours

of fresh salmon? Dude, you’re going to get priced out of bulking doing that stuff.

^Just eat a whole can at a time. Where I’m at, it comes out to like 2.70/lb.

Edit: Do you eat dairy?

Eat more of the foods that you allow yourself to eat. Not eating meat is your choice, so quit bitchin’ on a thread and just eat more!

/end thread

Clearly overfishing and uncontrollable depletion of fish is far better for the enviroment than controlled farming. What about all the waste involved in commercial fishing?

Sorry but this is not about logic and all about misplaced emotions.

Back on topic. 2000-3000cals is freaking easy. You do have to get your body used to higher volumes of food though and that will take time. adding liquid calories is a great idea to start. Even if you just add a glass of milk or juice to every meal youll be adding some calories.

I do drink milk and recently started adding it to my shakes, whole milk that is. I was also reading another thread about adding raw eggs to shakes and I’m thinking of doing that but am unsure, would probably do pasteurized eggs for safety.

Right. Now add full cream.

I would like to see a vegetarian commercial like those old, “I’m drinking milk” ads where the guy grows up and gets way bigger and stronger over years.

The only problem is, how do you show someone shrinking and becoming less functional than a paperweight?

Maybe you could start off with someone built like Dave Tate and then gradually morph it into the OP.

thats probably not a bad idea =^.^=

Yeah, this thread is done. OP, go forth and eat. Keep records. Weigh 200lbs by August. Good luck.

There are many reasons why, and I get enough protein, carbs, vitamins in my day from shakes and other sources, just can’t seem to get enough calories. I’ve put on some decent size so far actually, I just feel that my progress is being limited by how much I am currently eating
Do you know what has more calories per oz then fish?
