Trayvon Martin Pt. 3.. The Legacy Pt. 2

But, really, some here seem to be acting like Africans are the only race to ever have received such treatment. I can’t think of a skin color that hasn’t endured slavery at some point or another.
No one is denying that other races have been through the hardships of slavery. As far as I was concerned, this thread has been about race relations between blacks and whites.

Africans received the treatment you speak of in the Amerikkkas anyway. Furthermore, we can only go back one generation to deal with denial of voting, denial of where to sit on the bus, watch black people be brutalized with dogs and high powered water hoses, but the States practices historical revisionism because it does not want to deal with its past ugliness towards black people.

People here need to stop seeing the hardships that we have endured as what separates us, but what brings us together.
You see, that’s the kind of attitude that irks me. ‘‘Let’s forget about the past, let’s move on. Please people, get over it!’’ I’m all for working together to make a better future but I’m not for forgetting about the past. Black people don’t have to do that to make some whites happy. This is part of their history. I wouldn’t ask you to get over Pearl Harbour or 9.11, would I? Woudl you tell the Jews to get over the Holocaust? Do you get mad too when Jews get outraged for an anti-semitic attacks? Why should Blacks always shut up? Why should Black history be rewritten/brushed under the carpet to improve race relations?

I also have to say: DN, I don’t understand why you have so much hate for the United States. I know that, historically, Americans have really taken the low road at some times, but haven’t most countries at one point or another? You seem to harbor a lot of ill will towards the U.S., and I don’t feel like it’s justified.
Hate? I’ve spent shit loads of money/ invest in your economy. I wouldn’t do that if I hated the Sates. What I can’t stand is the institutionalised racist system and, laws that have been put into place, to generally protect the white man and tar and demonize the black man.

But don’t worry; I feel the fucking same about France.

We’re over Pearl Harbour. Just like my Jewish friends are over the Holocaust. And 911 is a bit different because people today actually lived through it (not many WWII generation left sadly). But hey, we’re over 911 anyway.

So fucking get over it DN. You were never a slave. Stop whining.

Oh, yes, bitch, you REALLY are OVER Pearl Harbour.

Beautiful Amerikkka.

I’ll whine as much as I like just as you do with the Japanese. Fucking sue me.

I see what your saying csulli, but I doubt Jews are, “over,” the Holocaust. They may have accepted it happened and moved on perhaps, but not over it.

I do agree it’s pretty annoying when the, “My great great grandmother was a slave,” card is pulled. It would be like me bringing up Irish slaves. I could very well be from a line of former Irish slaves as could my very Irish wife, but even if that were true it has had zero affect on my life. Although it does mean I was born and raised here in America, which is a good thing to me.

Anyway we should be working to better race relations. Part of that is leaving slavery in the past. No white person alive today owned another person legally. I haven’t, my father hasn’t, neither of my late grand father’s did, and neither did their fathers. Past that I couldn’t tell you.

Oh, here’s some more, so you can see how Amerikkka has really got over Pearl Harbour.

Yeap. Beautiful.

You don’t need to tell Jews to get over the holocaust because they already overcame that evil.

"The Irish slave trade began when James II sold 30,000 Irish prisoners as slaves to the New World. His Proclamation of 1625 required Irish political prisoners be sent overseas and sold to English settlers in the West Indies. By the mid 1600s, the Irish were the main slaves sold to Antigua and Montserrat. At that time, 70% of the total population of Montserrat were Irish slaves .

Ireland quickly became the biggest source of human livestock for English merchants. The majority of the early slaves to the New World were actually white.

From 1641 to 1652, over 500,000 Irish were killed by the English and another 300,000 were sold as slaves. Irelandâ??s population fell from about 1,500,000 to 600,000 in one single decade. Families were ripped apart as the British did not allow Irish dads to take their wives and children with them across the Atlantic. This led to a helpless population of homeless women and children. Britainâ??s solution was to auction them off as well.

During the 1650s, over 100,000 Irish children between the ages of 10 and 14 were taken from their parents and sold as slaves in the West Indies, Virginia and New England. In this decade, 52,000 Irish (mostly women and children) were sold to Barbados and Virginia. Another 30,000 Irish men and women were also transported and sold to the highest bidder. In 1656, Cromwell ordered that 2000 Irish children be taken to Jamaica and sold as slaves to English settlers."

*Emphasis mine.

100% agree. They are a strong people.
