How ironic…

Sure defending yourself is one thing but the current FL and some other staes "Stand your ground laws makes no execption for being the aggressor in a confrontation. I think that now that this use of the law happened people in stand your ground states can manipulate the law to dispose of people they dont like. If you start a confrontation with someone end up loosing you can use deadly force. The end result is in a SYG state to level the playing field everyone needs to be armed. Great for the NRA and gun companys maybe thats what they wanted.

If that happens its like the wild west we might as well settle our difference with draws at high noon. Als Im saying is people will start to abuse the law now that the law has showcased its loophole. So something should be done to prevent people abusing the law for vendettas and personal disputes before people start dying.[/quote]
Incorrect. Florida’s statute dealing with self defense does not provide protection to you if you are the initial aggressor.
The US Supreme Court unanimously declared in the 1890s that no person should have to retreat from an attack in their own home.
Several states, including Florida, wrote laws that tried to nullify that decision, and overzealous prosecutors (janet reno being one of them) would file charges against people for not fleeing an attack in their own home, but instead, fighting back.
Stand your ground was never used as a defense in the Zimmerman trial.
It is under attack by people who have no clue what it actually states.
“Shoot first” is the favorite term being used by anti-gun zealots, much like “assault magazines”, and “weapons of war”, these phrases evoke a visceral reaction, but they also mislead.
One if the major reasons you see this law under attack is that if used as a successful defense, it absolves the person of civil liability.

It can’t be because the assailants were black.
The TM 2.0 thread proved that blacks cannot be racist.
It’s impossible.

Well, I am all about the Brave New World and all that, but what would I call a gaggle, flock, well, some sort of gathering of dark skinned people who would beat someone up just because he is rather light skinned and they dislike a particular verdict?

Because, it seems to me that they have singled out someone because of the color of his skin and his facial features so that they could inflict great harm upon him.

I need a word for that phenomenon.

Killer whales are a pod.
Group of crows are a murder.
A group of frogs is an army.

I can’t believe we made it to part 3 of this atrocity. I’m glad someone posted the violent crime statistics. If we need further evidence I still have my Excel spreadsheet of the top 25 most dangerous cities I can post by Zip Code and their respective demographics. I especially like that some of the cities show up more than once.

Also Stu ftw on stating that you shouldn’t comment if you don’t know the whole story and information that was brought to trial. But sadly, historically, we know for a fact people will take a detail and run with it to prove an agenda.

Edit: For the “naming” of these groups, I defer to this link, hopefully it will aid in this discussion :P.

I Can’t believe there was one made after the trial was over let alone part 2 and 3 of a never ending pointless debate of Trolls and people whose minds won’t change no matter what the truth is.

Porcupines → Prickle

i lol’d

Yea, I posted that for some minor comedic relief in what is bound to be a continued run of this shitstorm.

I lol’d at being called a complete moron for encouraging people to move out of areas that are highly racist - and then watch as people construe it to mean that there aren’t such things as small groups of racist people everywhere - of all colors.

I think from now on I’ll make posts exactly with the intention for them to be mis-construed to make it look as I wasn’t intending. After all, I should make it easy for people who only address arguments they can win, and ignore valid ones.

And lol at people bashing engineers, especially someone who waited for a relationship with meaning, and not having “experience.” What an epic post, lol! You guys and your small worlds.

yeah, we get a raw deal. we should riot.

speaking as someone who got around (an engineer, how crazy!), i wish i would have waited. I wish i could have discovered everything i have sexually with my wife and not some random gf or hookup.

Indeed. People can make their own life choices regarding their partner(s), but its disappointing to see someone harassing an individual for “waiting” for the right one/time. I think as long as that person can go through life happy with that decision - and many folks I know who “waited” are, that is all that matters. I’ve known more unhappy people who were “frivolous” in their younger days than not, but that’s a poor reference point as more people nowadays sow their wild oats before marriage.

I’m also an engineer and took offense to that. I’ve had the same girlfriend for the past 6.5 years, so I guess that disqualifies my input on being happy about my personal life and being unable to provide input.

Resounding situation for both race, sexual activity, etc. is - Close-minded is close-minded.

Anywho, back to the proverbial storm. I boarded up my windows in preparation!

Why the fish gotta be black??? Even if its half white??
Doesn’t matter what kind of black you are; your held down, submersed almost, there some white person always riding you, making you do tricks and flips, you don’t get paid enough, they took you from your mother, they…holy shit…this movie is making sense actually:

On a serious note: I want to know if this kid really should be the “face” of change. I know we tried to make Obama a face of new things to come, the turning of leafs and such…but that in a way as fell through. I just think out of individuals to look up to, to admire, to say because of this person we need to be better there are way, WAY better people than TM. I can profile this kid all I want but you get the point.

Who is there to look up to in AA communities?

Who is there to look up to in WA communities? (for comparison sake)

why is it AA (african americans) and WA (white americans I am assuming). Why arent our continents of origin included in our designation?
