Trayvon Martin Pt. 2 'The Legacy'

Good for you.

There are people who would call a guy who needed to call the cops without ever saying a word first a extremely fearful or culturally unaware.

Why should anyone care that you think they are an “idiot”?

Do you understand that the entire world doesn’t think like you?
Please go find where I said everyone should care what my opinion was…I simply stated my opinion. Simmer down big man
Uh…ok.

It is YOUR OPINION.

Do you now understand that YOUR OPINION s based on your CULTURAL BACKGROUND?

Dear Lord.

I already made the point that if these were “real thugs” pissing them off when they have your home address is NOT something someone from a larger city would do in an urban area unless an actual crime was committed worthy of it.

This has nothing to do with “being tough”. It has to do with CULTURE.

But I am sure you all will turn this into a bullshit thread as well no matter what.
Lol again all I did was state my opinion. That is it nothing more. I don’t understand the confusion mr dr.

And real thugs you’re damned if you do damned if you don’t. It was already discussed.
Brah, you’re simply discussing how cultural background effects peoples reactions to certain scenarios.

You need to mellow out, this getting out of hand. Why cant you respect that because X grew up tougher and more cultured than the rest of us (somehow on account of him not being white) that you’re wrong and he’s right?
Professor X wrote:
ryanbCXG wrote:

It wasn’t discussed.

You had people arguing if calling the cops is ok for LOITERING.

That’s missing the point by a freaking mile.

Tip: If REAL THUGS have your freaking HOME ADDRESS…pissing them off may not be the best move if alternate means are available.

But hey…what do I know.

I am sure they are thuggin’ hard in Little Rock.
And what you’ve consistently ignored (because you are literally the worst debater on T-Nation) is that approaching R33L THUGZ in person may not be the best idea when alternate options are available.

Also, Aragorn. you have to understand that when people ruin threads by adding several pages of nonsense just to attack it makes it hard to follow real discussion.

Because you can get beat up?

Killed?

Robbed?

Bukkake’d?

Again, you want to approach on foot, you roll the dice, others are entitled to their OPINION that that is a stupid approach given how many unknowns there are going into this situation.

You wanna risk getting bukkake’d, be my guest. Not me.

So you don’t consider at all that BY CALLING THE COPS you could get:

BEAT UP

KILLED

and whatever white-ebonic term goes for getting naked.

My point in my approach was to show how literally one sided “majority opinion” seems to be.

Majority opinion concludes that:
-Cops equal safety
-clothing styles equal thug

Minority opinion could alternately conclude that:
-Cops equal lack of safety and/or loss of life
-sagging doesn’t equal THUG at all

Funny how one side sees the other as “IDIOTIC”…but can’t see the institutional racism at all.

If we are talking about the 5 guys in the driveway hypothetical… There is so much that is going to go through my mind before I’m even noticing skin color or clothing.

Where are my wife and kids?
Concerning the loud talking: do they appear to have been drinking?
How old do they appear?
Do they seem relaxed or tense? IE: joking around with each other laughing, or are they stoic and looking around?
Is their car in my driveway? Or are they otherwise blocking my way/path/home?

I mean… It is a tough hypothetical to really talk about, and I think that has contributed to the back-and-forth.

If they were white and dressed like tupac, it would be the same damn thing. Stereotypes and profiling are often true. There is nothing inherently bad about either.

5 black guys dressed like me in my driveway and i might be more inclined to sort this out myself. 5 guys of ANY race (except asians, asians arent intimidating at all) dressed all thugged-out and i will certainly consider calling the cops.

Stop making it a race thing. You know who’s most closely associated with pants below their ass? People from the ghetto and gangbangers. Who’s probably most likely to try and jump or rob me? People from the ghetto and gangbangers, at least compared to the rest of my neighbors.

Yes, so why does X have to constantly make it a race thing when their are so many other variables and the guy who originally brought up the situation said nothing of race?

Makes sense but keep in mind in ragrds to race relations everyone views the world through the lens of their own personal expierence with other cultures races ect…or this case lack of.
Many here have demonstared extreme bias and lack of any understanding when considering minorites. I would venture to say the same folks that think baggy clothes = thug. Or that black people walking in their neighborhood is cause for a red alert…

 1. Would have issues with their sister dateing a black man
 2. Would’nt invite a blackperson to Thanksgiving dinner
 3. Would prefer to have white children
 4. Dont really view all races as equal

I know you’ll twist this to say that saying “I don’t judge a book by its cover” doesn’t equal “I don’t judge” but that’s the part that’s being referred to. Even though you did say after this that would would judge someone off of their hygiene (showering and clean clothes) which I’m pretty sure would fall into the “cover” category when using the book analogy.

Anyway, glad to have you back.

To be fair, looking at it from a perspective of race is fair in this thread. At least at this point in this thread.

We were up until this talking about the racial and social aspects of the Zimmerman ruling.

I see where he is coming from for sure.

All I know is, unless I see a broken window or they are fighting themselves, the only likely scenario I am calling the cops is if they are between me and my family, and my wife or son aren’t answering the phone. I would imagine I’m unlikely to engage 5 dudes that aren’t obviously out having a good time and joking around either though. Call me a pussy or whatever, but unless my family is on the other side of those guys, I’d rather wait them out.

I’m not in my house and nothing in my house is worth the worst case scenario. I have kids and a career. I’ll probably just hang out and wait to see what they do from a safe distance. Camera phone getting the best pictures of dudes I can.

In the context of what this thread was originally about, that is fair, but the conversation got away from that and basically just centered around whether this guy was right or wrong for using the cops to handle that situation.

Also, i can respect your opinion regarding that matter. I dont necessarily think i would call the cops either, but i can respect that some people would want to er on the side of caution.

However, X is failing to respect any opinion that differs from his own. And when he started bringing race back into it, we were already way off that.
Professor X wrote:

Really?

You would do the same if they were white and wearing college sweaters? (You bringing race into it)

They responded that way (threatening to assault a police officer) BECAUSE YOU CALLED THE COPS. (Purely speculation and your opinion. Not factual whatsoever)

I would be pissed if someone called the fucking cops on me for standing (please see: loitering and trespassing) there also.
