Travel Advice for Japan

May be traveling to Japan in December to see my brother after he is stationed there at Camp Zama. Currently in Afghanistan for his second tour and it’ll probably be the whole family, our parents, my wife and kids, going over to see him. I know we have a lot of people on here who travel so any practical advise on best airlines to try, cheap rates, best places to fly out of, etc., would be greatly appreciated.
