Transwoman Takes First Place

Yup, the policies currently in place are doing an absolute bang-up job of making sure athletes are not cheating… /s

No consistency.

Yeah really. Remember the Eastern Block countries? They had no qualms about turning women into men for their olympic glory. Now countries can just start with men.

All the hormone suppression/ratio/maximum business is such BS. How about: If Y chromosome is present, must compete as male. If no Y chromosome present, may compete as female. Is that so hard?

No kidding it’s BS. I had a look at the IOC rules: “less than 10 nanomoles per liter”

Then I found this from a health website: “In women, normal testosterone levels range from 15 to 70 nanograms per deciliter (ng/dL) of blood”

Using an online toolnto get these into the same units:

10 nanomoles per liter is 288.42 ng/dL
Normal test for women is 15 - 70 ng/dL

Happy to have my worked checked, I’ve been wrong before but that is BS - at least for weightlifting it is.

Anyway, we see how the world reacts in about 5 minutes.

It should be noted women are more sensitive to androgens comparative to men

With that being said, there’s no way in hell the discrepancy re androgen sensitivity could account for the cutoffs for trans athletes being that much higher

If we are to remove the prospect of inherent biomechanical advantages (male vs female) one is born with, PARTICULARLY if they go through puberty as a male then we need to conduct more research on "what testosterone concentration in a male is equitable to that of a woman’s endogenous production

Hell, before I went on TRT I could’ve competed as a trans athlete. Even in my decrepit state back then had you put me on a bench I could still press numbers higher than 99% of women.

And so we we wrap up the four and a half year long thread with some weak sauce lifts.

I expect that’s the last women’s weightlifter with testicles we will see for a while. I, for one, will never forget how her brave and beautiful star shone so bright for so long.

Its actually unfortunate they did not place.

If they had totally dominated and took gold it could have worked to demonstrate that they had an unfair advantage. And maybe it could have rallied these cis women together to advocate for themselves.

I mean fuck it. Lets make everything Coed. Then women will just get so discouraged they will stop playing sports altogether. Get back to what they were meant to to do. Have babies.

Many pro sports or even collegiate are coed. There are no rules against women in the NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL…

Unless you consider biological reality a rule.

Which is why women only leagues exist.

Isn’t this just because they have very little androgen exposure naturally? Like a FTM on HRT isn’t going to get more out of an increase in T since they have long term exposure to androgens if they have been on HRT for awhile.

That’s about right I think…mental math in an airport says so anyway lol.

This situation is all the more ridiculous when you consider that 2 18 year old female track stars were just held out of Tokyo of NATURALLY occuring testosterone that was higher than the arbitrary limit.

This whole thing just grinds my gears on several levels, but the hypocrisy is the worst.

EDIT–I believe the track standard is different - and much lower - than what was stated in your post, but can’t recall at the moment.

It’s ‘only’ 3 years till the next olympics. They could be a chance to return then…

To add to the confusion in the track events, I believe there’s a T limit in women for the sprint events but not for the longer distances.

Only between 400 and 1 mile, I think.

I believe that’s correct, because it’s the only evidence they could gather for the CAS that testosterone enhances performance. I’m not saying evidence doesn’t exist (I believe it does because…duh). I’m saying 1) their particular ststed limits are arbitrary and 2) handled poorly when you have XX females that are entirely natural that are banned.

they are supposed to be reviewing their guidelines because they know the limits for transgendered dudes is too high.

I saw this. I found their wording to be hilarious in the statement I read.

They suggested that their current policies on transgender athletes, which have only been in place since 2015, are now ‘outdated’… As if the policies were good when they were implemented, and just need to change with the times, lol. No. They’re not outdated, they were always terrible.
