Transitioning Off a Low Carb Diet

I’m on the AD at the moment but I thought I’d make this broader than just a Q in the AD thread. If someone wished to transfer to a different eating plan (which I don’t at the moment) how would one go about it?

Slowly re-introduce carbs… First post workout, then breakfast, and so on? All at once? Add from different sources first? First fruits vegies, all the way up to processed carbs/fast carb sources? I’m completely unsure as to what would be best.

Why are you leaving the AD?

PWO would be a good place to do carbs, and as you said breakfast. They key isn’t so much timing as how clean these carbs are. I wouldn’t go out and grab a box of jelly doughnuts (Mmmm doughnuts)… Whole wheat pasta’s, starchy vegetables (potatoes, carrots) and of course fruits I would eat all of those things.

When you add the carbs you’re going to gain at least 5 pounds in water weight, just be prepared.

“If someone wished to transfer to a different eating plan (which I don’t at the moment)”

I’m not leaving it yet. However in the future, I’m sure that the monotony of it will get to me - still at fan at the moment though.

Part of my question which I didn’t spell out is that is there any physiological adaptation BACK towards carbs that I should be aware of? A ‘Break In’ phase perhaps? If I go from low to boatloads of carbs will I be more likely than usual to store them as fat? etc etc.
