When I finish this training cycle I might give this a go, Tom. But I have to tell you, Eric’s program has me feeling better that I have in 10 years. The only things that hurt are the things that are supposed to hurt because I worked the shit out of them. I am really looking forward to this meet in April to get some raw numbers to start from.
I’m feeling great also Colin, I just get wornbout after three weeks . One week of deload and you bounce back better .
Today went well , but that mean coach always throws sobering in that drills me. Today was fat bar curls. 100 went to 105 went to 110 over the last block . Today he wanted 115 x6,6,6. Made 3,3,3, this 5 lb jump felt like 20.
245,275,305,325,350 x 2 paused . Easy . The 350x 2 was funny. I set up the safety bars but had them a little to high. I hit the right side on my 2nd. I stilled drilled it. But I was off and got it stuck under the right j hook . The spotter helped me rack it. I counted it since it was so easy. Could have done 3/4.
DO YOUR DELOADS. They work .
Rest was 5 bd paused close grip. 330 x8,8
shoulder box 25 x 10,10,10,10.
Dumbell tri ext 45 x 15,15,15,15,15
fat bar curls 115 x 3,3,3.
Band pull aparts 4 sets of 15 with minis .
Iso prone abs 3 sets of one minute each .
Squat day today went fine. Ssb 320,360 x 2, 315 x 3, 5 sets speed
295 oly paused squads x4,4
one leg dls 60 x3,3 ,3
ghr x 15,15,15,15. Suitcase dls 155 x 10,10,10
plate twists 25 x 10,10,10. Was going to do this workout on Saturday but my son got very sick. A stomach thing. He might not workout this week. Two days of vomiting takes it out of you .
Light upper body today . Five sets of jm presses 145x 10. Two sets of band pull aparts x 15, 3 sets of shoulder box 15 lbs for 15s,
5 sets of … Yep, triceps kickbacks . 25 lbs for 12 reps.
Didn’t do these for twenty years . Guess he wanted some variety. Last block was 80 lbs on pushdowns for 5 sets of 20.
Leg raises , knees bent 3 sets if 12, straight 3 sets of 9.
Today I did 485,530 x 2. Used my metal deadlifter , I figured I better start using it to get used to it. Thinkni could have done four .
Speed deads 450 x 3,3,3. Two minutes rest
bent over rows 235 x 5,5,5
shrugs 405 x 12,12,22
deficit deads 3.5" platform 350 x 3,3,3
reverse hyper 50 x 6,6,6. 4-1-4 tempo
spread eagle situps. 10 x 8,8,8
easy one today , the deload worked well . On my set of 530 I could have done four .
Josh is a funny guy . I do 115 x 3 for three sets in the far bar curl last week. So this week ge says do five sets of 5 with 120! Haha!! Funny thing is he might be right . I look at it and think WTF ! Then proceed to do it
Guess sometimes these fellows know us better than we do . Here out is rep prs . Doubles with the two board with 355, ssb with 365, and deadlift with 540. Never did doubles with this much before . But I feel confident and strong so I’ll make it happen .

Sounds like the training is going well. I just bought his new ebook and glanced over it, seems like some pretty good stuff.
It is . Josh is a big raw training advocate . He’s not against gear. He just thinks it’s a truer test of strength .
WhAt I’m learning is : 1. People don’t work hard enough . 2. People don’t pay enough attention to nutrition and stretching . 3. We’re capable of more than we think . 4. Even if you’ve done this forever , you can benefit from great coach.

#4 is so true – it isn’t easy coaching yourself, no matter how long you’ve trained and competed. Sometimes you need someone else to push you or to tell you what you’re planning to do is retarded.

Exactly Burt . It’s so powerful to let someone else do the thinking for once . Hell even Tiger Woods has a golf coach . And I’m no tiger woods .
Great day today . Did two board work sets with 280,310,330,355 paused ,2 reps each set . 355 was a pr again. Best ever was 360 x 1, but that was touch and go. More like smash and fly .
Bodyweight was 203 late in the day .
Next was 330 x10,10 paused five bd
Shoulder box 25 x11,11,11,11
db tri ext 50x 9, five sets .
Fat bar curls 120 x 0, knew this would be bad . Did 115 x 3,3,3. Five sets of five was a WTF??
Then did 115 x 4 cheat curl then 105 x 6,6,6
band pull aparts 4 sets 15.
Iso probe abs three sets one minute each .
Very happy with the two board , 360,365 should go easily for doubles in week 12 and14.
Today was squat day
Ssb 325 x 2 , 365 x 2 after warm ups .
Speed squats w ssb. 325 x 3,3 tweaked left knee here , arted it then did 325 x 3,3
oly pause squats with ssb 300 x4 ,4
one leg dls. 60 x 4,4,4. These are tough , balance is still an issue .
Ghrs with mini x 8,8,8,8
suitcase deads 165 x 5,5,5
plate twists 25 x 10,10,10
good day, think he’ll have me go 375 x 2 next week.
Suitcase deads are the real deal . I’m sure over 600 now and these are challenging . I use the straight bar and straps .

Am I understanding this right, that you worked up to 365 for a double w the ssb, then did 4 triples w 325 for speed work? was the 365 light or was the 325 just not all that speedy?
Sort of both . He’s not taking % like westside . It’s more like push it fast
.
I have some left knee issues so I do them form conscious and try to explode out the bottom .
I personally don’t like traditional speed work . I think many rush the rep speed without keeping form tight .
I can ramble on more , but you’re not lifting if you’re hurt .
Not sure what my ssb max is kbc. Josh is basing it off of mid 400s. I don’t use the straight bar due to injury issues .
Also , if you check over ten years ago Louie recommended higher %s on speed work . Now with the gear they’ve taken them down . I’d also recommend using briefs for box squats with a wide stance ,
Today was light upper body
Jm press 155 x 8, 5 sets
band pull aparts mini x 15,15
shoulder box 20 x 11,11,11
tricep kickbacks 25 x 15, five sets these were suprisingly hard
leg raises knee bent x 12,12,12
straight. X9,9,9
