I have set some goals for myself by the time June 1, 2012 rolls around. Here they are:
Squat - 405
Bench - 315
Deadlift - 475
Bodyweight - 195-205 lbs
Bodyfat % - 10-12%
One mile run - Anything below 6:30
Pull-ups - 15-20
I’m also going to be taking measurements on the first of each month so I can track my progress a little easier. I’m going to be picking up a scale, too, so weight will also be monitored. Prepare for a lot more posts and a lot more detail from me.

ENDING NOTES: Not too many exciting things today. Most likely (almost positive) that I’m working my way down to 8s the next two weeks. Looking at 215x8 the next week, and then 225x8 the following, which would be awesome because I’ve never done it that many times. We’ll see how it works out.

NOTES: First set was okay; I kept losing tightness at the bottom of the rep and not using my back enough. The second set was killer. I stayed as tight as I could and blasted the reps out one by one until I got the last one. I can feel myself getting stronger. Ed definitely knows how to push me.
- Pause Squats

NOTES: Paused at the bottom for a good 3 seconds. Ed was telling me that on the first set, I was cutting it high because I wasn’t opening my hips enough. Fixed it on the second set and killed it.
- 5" Deficit Deadlifts (Yes, I know, 5")

NOTES: These were probably the biggest deficit deadlifts I’ve ever seen. We went off of a 3" box and then the thickest 45 lb. plate I’ve ever seen. The first set was alright; I let the bar get out in front of me a bit. The second set was hard, but I banged them out. The third set was the last and easiest one. For some reason, I took my shirt off and just went all out on these. I could’ve done about 10 reps instead of the 5. So, lesson learned: deadlifting shirtless will instantly add 30 lbs.
- Chest-Supported Rows

ENDING NOTES: Overall, it was a great squat session tonight. Really pumped some blood into my legs. I’m pretty sure that we’re done with 8s now (thank God!), but who knows with Ed; we could go 8s again next week for all I know. Whatever gets me stronger. I’ve already put 20 lbs. on my 8RM (pretty much), so everything is working in my favor. Still gotta work on the tightness issue, but that will come easier (I hope).
As a side note, my left shoulder has been acting up again. I separated it during my football season and it went away when I was out with my broken leg for 2 months. It felt fine until Monday, when it started hurting again. I’m just gonna take it easy on the poor thing and ice the shit out if. That seemed to work last time. We’ll see.
