Tracking Metabolism Via Body Temp

 Has anyone had any real world experience tracking their body temperature over time to determine metabolic rate changes? 

Were you successfully able to use it to determine a lowered metabolism due to over training or too low a calorie deficit for too long and then make appropriate corrections?  Or perhaps you found it to have no correlation and was just a waste of time.

Edit/Note: Since I wrote the original questions, I read the TC article that references temp in relation to overtraining in terms of strength/muscle gain. My personal interest is metabolism as related to weightloss.
