no, she does not out squat me, and i dont compete in any federation. and i dont like any powerlifting competitions that aren’t raw. i dont like gear period. get where im coming from now buddy?
if gear does not play a substantial role in powerlifting totals, i’d like a powerlifter here who competes to just shut me up once and for all. because i see guys who can bench 500 in meets but without a shirt can only (thats still good, but it isnt 500) put up ~450.
powerlifting got me into lifting period. but to me the sport is tarnished by it.
gear gear gear gear, i will stop blabbing about this with you on this thread. gear sux.
Boss14…I would do the squats both with and without pins, and pause 1-2 sec or more if you want to make it and iso type…don’t limit yourself…hope that helps.
what stake do i have in it? none. why dont i compete in it? for one im no powerlifter and dont plan to be, and after reading enough magazines/articles with 100 million inzer advertisements in it, i got sick of it.
why dont i just be quiet? because i can say whatever i want c*cksucker ← please dont censor this
i just see it as companies coming up with some great ideas to inflate the numbers, and sinking themselves deep into the game. because whats a raw 500 bench? nothing. but a 1000 with a quintuple ply heavy duty spring shock absorbing nitrous oxide boosting bench shirt is much more interesting. right?
am i looking at this all wrong? you even said it, 'if i only got 50lb out of my bench shirt blah blah … ', thats just the way i see it.
why dont you explain the concept behind why you want a shirt to add 1 million pounds to your total, instead of coming up with stupid remarks and cliche insults. reply with something intelligent for once bigbadbangs.
only pm i’d like to do to you is the PunchyouintheMouth PM. ha ha ha.
look im sorry for getting into this with bangs on this thread, but i made no insults or mean remarks in my initial comments, but well, now i have after those stupid replies of his.
so if you would like to just end it bangs, and justify yourself using ten spotters to tighten that pink spandex inzer shirt over your flubby body, then do so.
if you cant back up your sport here, the one you say i know nothing about, i will just assume you were taken for the ride, the i-got-this-suckers-money gear market. on the other hand if you can spend 5 minutes of your precious time explaining why you think your sport needs this equipment, and why it makes the sport better, or why it is necessary and why people like me just ‘dont get it’, i’ll be very thankful and apologize. if you can’t do this, then you’re just a sucker who doesn’t even know why he’s using the shit in the first place.
ONe of the reasons I wear gear , aside from being able to lift more, is that I would like to still be able to lift as i grow older. I’m not sure how much weight you are capable of lifting now, but when you get up into seriously heavy weights it takes a toll on your joints. Also, if you think it’s any easier to hit a max lift with gear than it is to hit a max lift raw…you are mistaken. You may be able to lift more with the gear but the effort is at least equal if not much, much harder. Just the idea of wearing the equipment is too painful for most people…I have wrapped the knees of a number of clients at my dad’s gym and I can’t count the number of times they’ve made me take the wrap off before they even attempted the squat because it was “too painful”. Gear is here to stay, it’s not anew thing. Guys have been looking for ways top tweak their lifts since the beginning and we will continue to look for new ways every step of the way. If you like to lift raw then do it…it’s your choice. But don’t ever assume that you are stronger or more ethical than those of that don’t choose that path.
gear is a tool in the sport of powerlifting, it makes for more exciting numbers/competitions. you wouldn’t make all the pro hockey players toss away their carbon/graphite $200 sticks that allow them to shoot 100+ mph for some old school wooden pieces of shit, would you?
on a side note, i’ve been benching shirted for the past 3 weeks in prep for an informal bench meet in may. it really doesn’t magically add 100+ lbs to your max right away, and honestly i have no fucking clue how to use it.
