Belt unboxing is up.

I cant’t honestly tell you why they picked him up. He seems to be doing alright (checked and he has a 3.21 ERA), but it is too early to tell much.
From what I can tell though, the Bucs are really starting to have trouble with pitching, and they are losing a ton of games. This is made even worse due to the fact that all of our games so far have been within our division.
I am confused about picking up Chris Stewart, the catcher from the Yanks.

They’re one of the teams I enjoy watching so it kills me when management makes moves like this.
Volquez is absolutely positively not a 2.5 to 3 ERA pitcher. I could eat my words here but I won’t be shocked if it normalize back to upper 4’s or low to mid 5’s. And when it does, he’ll either be demoted to bp, traded off before the deadline, or flat out released.
The thing about him is that when he’s on and the bats are there to get him into an early lead, he’s not bad. But when he gets into a hole, it’s like chicken little and the sky is falling. This is what separates him from the big boys - the guys who can settle down and minimize the damage so the offense has a chance to get back in the game.
There’s a reason the Padres released him. They found out the hard way that he’s not even worth demoting to the bp or the minors. Dodgers then picked him up out of desperation and did their best to straighten his head out. And he did reasonably good work, mostly because he was just grateful to be employed, and for a playoff team no less. The fact that LA got rid of him for this season speaks volumes. Some people are just unfixable. It’s a fact of life.
Pirates should’ve kept Burnett. He’s no Cy Young contender but much more dependable.

I think the bucs picked him up out of desperation as well.
I took it rather personally when Burnett left. Sometimes I look at his bobblehead doll on my desk and cry.
I resent Burnett a bit though. He could have taken a pay cut for his last few years. He was overpaid and starting to decline a bit on top of it. The bucs just can’t afford it.
I am silently hoping that late in the season, the bucs are charging toward the playoffs (not likely with how things are at the moment) and they trade the Phillies for Byrd and Burnett, kind of like they did last year for Byrd, Buck, and Morneau (even though Byrd was the biggest help of them all).
Back feeling better?
Hope so, and it seems like it.
Form looking sharp?
Stay strong

Yeah, I have a few decent lifts in on it already, and I have settled in on a mobility routine.
I think my form is a bit improved for various reasons, which I will cover when I upload a video of each form.
Thanks for stopping in!

I haven’t used it yet, but I am hoping that is the case. Thanks for the recommendation with BB.

What kind did you get?
Yesterday’s lift. (4/28/14)
YTWL/Band Dislocates/Band Pull Aparts (Light work for all of these to warm up and strech a tiny bit.)
Bench
10x45
5x45
5x135
3x175
5x180 (All sets from here on out were paused.)
5x210
10x235 (Paused. Easy. I had at least 2 more in the tank.)
5x210
5x210
5x225 (Paused. Felt like I could have gotten 10 easily here if I wanted.)
Kroc Row
120 lb dumbbell for sets of 10/10/10/10/5/5
Incline Bench Press (Clos-ER Grip)
5x45
5x195
5x195
5x195
5x195
5x195
Not too many thoughts here. I am just doing my best to reduce joint strain.
You guys have any tips on joint health?
Maybe for specific lifts or things that helped you out. I am going to try to focus on “prehab” and prevention a bit as I feel like I have training pretty much on cruise control at a rate I am very pleased with at the moment.
great benching

Thanks man. That means a lot. Hopefully some day I will be on your level.

I hope this doesn’t come off the wrong way.
I’m stressing form because
But as a rule of thumb;
- You hurt yourself
- While deadlifting
- Your form wasn’t so hot
- And you pull like that all the time (or so you said)
- Somewhere down the road it will catch up with you if it hasn’t already
So the first thing that happens is you don’t put yourself in a position to hurt yourself again. e.i. the not so hot deadlift form you have.
From there you build back up.
Now if that is how you pull ALL the time but weren’t hurt, hell I’d tell you to keep pulling that way.
I hope you can see where I’m coming from. Getting hurt sucks and being out of the gym because of that blows even harder. I think in this community, nobody wants to see a fellow brother be hurt.
Stay strong brother

Solid form is good for the joints. And not so great form can be, I repeat can be, not always, but can be degenerative.

I hate to keep blabbling about form and crap like that, but look into joint integrity.
If you want me to shut up, just let me know.
Stay strong brother
young n,
I always take all views in my log. I think I can learn from everyone, and no people posting in here is never annoying. Post whenever you feel like you have something to say bro.
For deadlift, I have changed the setup, and how I initiate the pull. Also, my back angle has changed a bit to allow it to be more flat at the start. The Cardillo belt really helped me from rounding. I am however not going to use this as a crutch. There will still be beltless work done.
I got some advice from Paul Carter a while back, and I am actually still waiting on Clint Darden to get to my videos. In the mean time, I can see that my knees, and whole body for that matter, were way too far forward over the bar at the start of my pull. Also, my hips shot up a tiny bit. Both of these things caused my back to round to start the pull and immediately took the hamstrings and glutes out of the pull. Essentially, there was no leg drive (as someone mentioned somewhere on T-Nation). So, I have been working on a new setup, with the addition of beltless stiff leg deadlifts as a corrective exercise to not only strengthen muscles involved, but also to help teach me to control my back and ass more during the pull (I am also doing beltless front squats more to remedy pitching forward in the squat).
Also, part of me correcting this is to set more appropriate goals, which I did a few posts back. I am also going to take smaller jumps per cycle if that is what it takes, and be more patient. I am already happy with some of my lifts, so there is no sense in hurrying back to just get all messed up again, and then come back even weaker.
I haven’t done many sets of squat or deadlift since the injury, but I will be sure to film some and put em up for scrutiny in the near future.
Tonight’t lift. (4/29/14)

Well, I don’t have one, I just borrowed it. I looked at them. They are like twice as expensive as a best belt haha.
It was amazing though. The guy had broken it in prefectly.
