Here is my rant…
I do believe that if you compete in a sport with a weight class, there should be no excuses made if you lose an event.
I am going to loosely quote Jim Wendler here. I can’t find the exact quote, but it wen’t something like this…
“Guys always have some bitch-ass excuse as to why they didn’t lift well at a meet. They got sick during their prep, the bench was too high off the ground, and so on. It doesn’t fucking matter. Just get stronger.”
I am going to even throw steroids in that group of excuses. People need to worry about themselves, and stop making excuses about stupid shit that has no effect on their own lifting.
I HAVE NEVER TOUCHED A BELT OR PEDs, AND I PERSONALLY DONT CARE IF YOU LIFT WITH 100’s OF DOLLARS OF AAS IN YOUR SYSTEM, AND IN FULL GEAR. I don’t care about the thickness of your belt, the lift in your shoe, the length of your wraps, the brand/sizing of your squat suit. I don’t fucking care because I am going to do this MY way, and I am going to try to kick your ass regardless of the circumstances.
I do care that you make depth, that you touch your chest, and that you lock out your lifts. That is about it.
That being said, I have no respect for guys who break the rules or treat others like shit. I don’t care who you are. We all know a few good examples of this.
Hustle, integrity, and humility will always be more important than records in my book.
I do look down on guys that compete in natural bodybuilding federations that take tons of AAS, but if you are natty and you go to an untested meet, you had better be ready to deal with the consequences and not act like a bitch if you lose. You fucking knew better.
In my eyes, if you both weigh in at 181, and you are within the rules of that meet, there is no reason for you to lose other than that the other guy beat you on that particular day, or that you came unprepared.
Of all the things that I have addressed, one thing that I hate more than a sore loser is a poor winner. Show some class and act like you’ve been there before for crying out loud.
One of the reasons I made this log with the goal of a 1200 lb total is because i feel that is a level of strength that I think everyone from noob to world record holder can agree on being “not weak.”
