Top V-Diet Tips

Oh, and here’s a question: How do I get rid of my perpetually dry mouth and lips?
Funny i have been experiencing crazy dry lips and skin. I was not taking enough fish oil and salmon oil then though, i increased it and have only noticed a slight difference. Lotion and carmex work great but the weather in WV is no help either.
About the V-diet, i think its important to keep a daily journal, it motivates me and gives me a sense of purpose as well as success from day to day. Also i get strength from the V diet forums and 3 before pics i took which i keep in my gym bag, in my truck, and on my refrigerator.

I keep a tally sheet of how many shakes I’ve had. Every time I have a shake or take my EFAs, etc., I make a mark so I know exactly how many I’ve had. This is really helpful, because if I don’t keep track I tend to not get all my shakes in.

Oh my god I thought I was the only one. I’m pretty sure the only reason I woke up in the morning was how parched I was on the diet.

Right now I’m off 2 weeks and taking in 2300 calories, kept off 16 out of 17 pounds lost. Coming off, the diet I’m following is T-dawg 2.0.

Day 1 off the diet I started at 2000 calories with 3 shakes and 3 whole food meals a day. I’m moving up 100 calories every 5 days and every 10 days I remove a shake and replace it with a whole food meal a day. And if you’re wondering, my shakes DO NOT have flax in them. I HATE FLAX NOW.

Yeah, same here! I’m wondering if it’s the lack of sodium…not sure why that would be an issue, but to check it, I’ve just had a hot buillon broth, so we’ll see how I feel tomorrow morning.

I might up my fish/flaxseed oil dosage if this fails.

Ha ha ha! I know exactly what you mean

PS: Check out:

You can map your walks, calculate how much you’re walking, and even how many calories you’ve burnt walking them. Pretty cool!

Yeah, the first 3 days I made the shakes and drank them, almost enjoying the MD. But after that, it was just, put the scoops, some ice, some water, CHUG. Refill with water to make sure I get all the protein goodness, and chug once more. I was done with my shakes in about 3 minutes.

I used listerine after some of the shakes if I wanted to get rid of the sweetness. But, also to get the protein drink taste out of my mouth.

Carmex for the lips.

I’ve found myself chewing mint gum right after fruit-flavoured shakes, and fruity gum after chocolate-flavoured shakes.

Gum also helps with keto-breath.

Thanks for the tips Il Cazzo… The listerine and pickle juice is definitely what I need… Helps take the sweetness away… Cant stand sweet stuff

I’m also taking teaspoon shots of tabasco to satisfy the spicy food/salt craving…

As someone who has done this and loss 26 pounds in 26 days, and who is currently doing it, I would highly recommend pickle juice. I prefer Clausen because of the added garlic.

I know this may sound weird, but my wife and I got the tip from one of the authors here. After a while you just get tired of all the sweet from the shakes. A small sip of pickle juice every few days seemed to help me stop the cravings for something not sweet.

It sounded weird when I read it, but it really worked well for us.

I did something like this.

I add a couple ounces of Lemon Juice my shakes whenever I want something not so sweet. It’s about the only way I could stand the Banana Cream Metabolic Drive.

One thing you may want to check out is your local dollar store… I picked up 6 shaker containers for 6 bucks and they are holding up better then the ones i was getting at dpsnutrition.com for 3.95.
20 oz. Gatorade bottles work great too. And if you forget one or loose’em, meh…

OK, preliminary results are in:

For the past 2 nights I’ve had some bouillon broth after dinner, and my lips/mouth are no longer dry. I don’t know why like of sodium would make your lips or mouth dry (I would’ve guessed it to be the opposite), but that’s what seems to be happening.

I’ll get back in a week when I have more data at hand.

im half way throught the diet and found that snacking on around 25g of beef jerky throughout the day has really helped me stop craving for a food meal, it gives you about 10g of protein 0g carbs and about 2g of fat and really satisfies the salt cravings.

Not to nit-pick…but isn’t the point of the V-Diet for it to be…liquid?

I might die if I eat jerky right now. It would just taste too good to keep on living.

Yes, if you want to get technical, i dont eat it everyday just when im working the late 12hr shifts which would be about 3 times a week. Ive still lost about 5kg (10lbs+) in nearly 2 weeks so i will continue to allow myself this ‘treat’. It also helps with the dental problems some people encounter whilst on v-diet due to the lack of chewing. ive also had a bowl of no-sugar jelly when the food cravings were bad, again around 9kj per serving. I know its not the strict, liquid only v-diet, but hey its what gets me through and as long as the results keep coming im not phased.

Dudsman, I think you’re quite right in your approach. The reason Shugs doesn’t recommend/want people to eat other stuff is mostly psychological, to minimise sudden loss of pressure in the will-power tanks. Some people just wouldn’t be able to handle eating only “a bit” of jerky, on “some” days, you know? Once they did it, it would into a solid food eating frenzy  You, on the other hand, can manage it, so by all means go ahead. I was only pulling your leg, mate!

You know, I’d read about the jelly somewhere else, but had completely forgotten about it. Thanks for reminding me; I think I’ll make some no-cal jelly for the Superbowl this Sunday.

And hey, 5kg in 15 days is a bit of alright, isn’t it, Dudsman?

Any tips on training routine selection/loading?

A few training tips: due to the high protein and low glycogen, you are most-likely dehydrated but don’t even know it… Drink a lot of water and balance it out with some salt before your workout… It will help you achieve maximum intensity, I promise. Powerdrive is also a decent supplement while on the V-diet.

As far as the actual training, definitely get the compound exercises outta the way first… I still like to shoot for atleast 10 reps, but some people will tell you to go lower
