Im sorry but I really thought that was a good movie. Spike Jones wrote and directed I believe. I leftout OUT OF SIGHT, FRIDAY, THREE DAYS OF THE CONDOR and DOLOMITE.
I guess there is nothing better to do in Oregon but train, work, and watch movies. Been there done that. You forgot Jet Li, Danny lee, Anthony Kwok, Waise Lee and Jackie Cheung. Some t-vixens are Michelle Yeoh, Anita Mui, Christy Cheung, Maggie Cheung and Faye Wong.
Its about time somebody mentioned Tombstone, that is a great T-man movie, but for other great movies, Blow, and The Virgin Suicides, check this one out if you havent
Butch and Sundance, yesiree. I don’t think anyone has mentioned one of my faves yet: Cool Hand Luke. One of the ballsiest movies ever made. And these aren’t exactly T-movies, but Amadeus, and Pink Floyd’s The Wall make my list of “must haves” too.
I’m glad someone finally mentioned two of my Favorites, Seven and The Usual Suspects. Both have Kevin Spacey who is a kickass actor. I also enjoy the work of Morgan Freeman and Denzel Washington, both of whom were in Glory, a T-movie if there ever was one. Putting up with racism and still fighting for a just cause while charging a fort that is heavily fortified. Major cajones!! I enjoy most sci-fi and urban/black dramas, i.e. Boyz n the Hood, South Central, 187. Great List, I have my movie watching planned for some time to come.
You do know that Amadeus is going to be re-released on the big screen later this month, right? With 20-minutes of additional footage. Fully restored. Wait, I have to check on that release date - it may be this month - or later. The DVD version will be released in September. It will also contain interviews with Saul Zaentz (producer), Milos Forman, Tom Hulce and Elizabeth Berrige (Constanze). I’m not sure on F.Murray Abraham. And I believe a director’s commentary. This is one movie I am indeed looking forward to - again!
Wow…“Glory”. (By the way…Denzel has had a good year or so!).
I went back and watched “Glory”, and looked at the history behind it…a Medieval-Style frontal assault on a heavily fortified position (Fort Wagner in South Carolina)…while having grape shot, cannon fire, grenades, boiling oil and concentrated musket fire rained down on you while wearing some wool outfit and a cloth cap…not only to prove that you were Americans, but men. (Remember Trip (played by Denzel), the night before the assault saying during the “testifyin’ meetin’”…"It don’t matter much what happens tomorrow…we men, ain’t we?)…
The 54th Massachusetts…DEFINITELY “T-Men”…and “Glory” a T-Movie…
I wasn’t aware of the re-release of Amadeus. Thanks for the head’s up! I already have it on DVD, but I probably won’t be getting the Special Edition any time soon.
Hey, I got something that I know you HAVE to read. You can get my email at www.portfolios.com/PatriciaSmith
The greatest T-movies of all time? You may think that some are not true “T” material, but here are mine
-
The Godfather I and II. I consider it 1 story so they both go together. Any male over the age of 15 who has not seen this (a couple of my friends included) should be stoned in public.
-
Braveheart: Great acting, great cinematography. For the punishment for males over the age of 15 who have not seen the movie, see above.
-
Heat: DeNiro, Pacino, great special effects. Mann (Last of the Mohicans, Insider, Ali) used live ammo in the bank robbery scene.
-
Reservoir Dogs: Terrantino’s (spelling?) masterpiece. “Can you hear me? What’s going on”?
-
Deer Hunter: A truly depressing flick about blue-collar steel workers who go to Vietnam and come back. By the was, Cazale (Fredo in the GF) died of bone cander right after its release. The POW scenes are horrifying.
-
Memento: One of the most fucked up movies I have ever seen. If you haven’t watched it yet, go rent it. A brief intro: The movie starts at the end and then goes forward (or is it backward?) to the beginning. Very original. Great story (don’t want to divulge it). Best movie I have seen in recent years.
-
Goodfellas: “Go get your fuckin’ shine box.”
-
Trainspotting: Utterly hysterical, yet a fascinating and disturbing look into the life of junkies.
-
Gladiator: You can’t get more manly than fighting to the death. Spaniard is a true warrior: All he wants to do is grow figs, at least until you fuck with him.
-
Boogie Nights: Sex, drugs, Booze, chicks, porn, a 13-inch penis. Need a say more?
Honorable mention goes to “The Exorcist,” The only movie to really scare the shit out of me. It ruined my childhood.
#1 Braveheart- Primal war, those were men. Running at each other full speed with four ft. long swords. Impalement, beheadings, plus he impregnates the queen…what a world. Close #2 Full Metal Jacket- This is my rifle. This is my gun. This is for fighting. This is for fun. He he he or the imfamous line, me love you long time. I still use this on my girlfriend. I don’t have any particular after these two. Just two great movies.
Definitely some good flicks on this thread. I may have missed them, and would not be surprised if I did, but I was shocked that with all the Eastwood and Deniro fans here that I didn’t see these two gems: Unforgiven from Clint and Ronin from Deniro. Definitely a pair of good, hard-assed movies.
