Good call on LadyHawke, good flick. Other good ones with Rutger Hauer: Flesh & Blood, and Wanted: Dead or Alive (that last scene with the grenade just defines the whole thing). I thought Blind Fury was kinda lame, though.

Ladyhawke-YES!!! What about The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai and Time Bandits? God, I’m getting obscure now…

Demo: Dude, we got the Buckaroo Banzai SE DVD!!! Also, Beastmaster DVD. I know, I know Marc Singer, rolling eyes…But, I liked the ferrets (and I’m sure you guys don’t mind Tanya Roberts). AND we have a good beginning to our “Tribute to '80’s” DVD collection: Buckaroo, Beastmaster, Big Trouble in Little China, Flash Gordon (1980) - another really fun flick!

brider: Flesh -n- Blood - that was directed by Paul Verhoevan, right? And didn't he do a other Rutger Hauer classic - Soldier of Orange?

I have to say, I love Spring Break. There's no one here at the University, so Ko just got done setting up the brand new Toshiba DVD/VCR player on my department's big screen TV. So, I brought down some fun DVDs' to watch as I worked today - and tomorrow me and my student worker are gonna watch DVDs' (and videos) all day. Life is SO good.

Alright I have some time so I’m going to put some great ones on hear for fun. Some of these may be a little obvious, but this is my best list not best obscure list. Although I love your obscure pics Patricia and thanks so much for mentioning them. Cool old or missed movies always make for great enjoyment. By the way, this list is no particular order and I’m just going to list the title and not go into detail on why I picked them. I just want to get a lot of good titles out there for everyone to enjoy!

Comedy: National Lampoon’s Animal House, Stripes, Caddyshack, The Blues Brothers, This is Spinal Tap, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, National Lampoon’s Vacation, Blazing Sadles, Back to School, Bachelor Party with Tom Hanks, Clerks, 48 hrs, Porky’s, Night Shift, Swingers, Fletch, Diner, Fast Times aT Ridgemont High. These are all great comedies and all involve macho or manly themes like sports, military, rock music, westerns, partying, fighting, getting laid, and taking family vacations (OK so only one of them has that).

Action: This is what most people think of when T-Movies come to mind so here it goes, T2 Judgement Day, Die Hard, Dirty Harry, Lethal Weapon, First Blood, Police Story, Enter the Dragon, and Goldfiner (the best James Bond ever). These are all very obvious, but all so classic. You should be ashamed if you don’t own these babies. They’re like having socks and underwear, simply essential and you shouldn’t be without them.

Drama/mixed genre: These are my favorite type of movies. Dramatic or just simply hard to classify films. These again are some classic and just essential films to have. Goodfellas, The Godfather/The Godfather II (fuck the third one, blah), Pulp Fiction, Ocean’s Eleven (the older and better one), Rocky, Scarface, The Deer Hunter, Reservoir Dogs, Cool Hand Luke, Outlaw Josey Wales, Apocalypse Now, The Great Escape, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Blade Runner, Taxi Driver, The French Connection, The Longest Yard, Mad Max/Road Warrior, The Dirty Dozen, Deliverance, The Magnificent Seven, Platoon, Mean Streets, Spartacus, Papillion, Risky Business (could be comedy, but I put it hear under skills and trades, everyone should consult this to run a whore house), The Bridge On the River Kwai.

Those are some good ones for ya gang, hope you check out the ones you haven’t seen or maybe buy the ones you love.

Those are all good

This may not be such a Macho movie, and reeves is nothing special, but has the same theme of breaking out of the trance and control that the powers that be impose upon us that fightclub does

The Matrix

You’re good. I had to do an imdb search to verify, and the Soldier of Orange is just the US working title, the given title of that one is Soldaat van Oranje (1977). BTW, for any one looking for info on movies, actors, etc, the Internet Movie DataBase is a excelent resource (www.imdb.com).

brider: Yeah, imdb.com - a great resource! Oh and if you like a little fun, check out this site: www.movie-mistakes.com

I'm sure you're gonna like this site! I regularly go on like, four other movie-based sites - they're all very good on keeping me up-to-date with the newz (upcoming, in production, in-the-can, etc).

Lex: Great list! Swingers ("you're SO money...." , "bee-utiful babiesss") - I haven't gotten the DVD yet, but I watch the video ALOT. And DINER! Yeah, good one! Mickey Rourke, Ellen Barkin, et al - such a good cast!

Here's some more: Bad Company with Lawrence Fishburne, Ellen Barkin. Terrific movie about double crossing and murder.

Ben Hur. Yeah, it's rather "biblical" - but that charriot race is THE most amazing scene. And Charlton Heston was a major stud in his day. Omega Man, anyone? Or the original Planet of the Apes?

Oh crap! How could I have forgotten Vision Quest?

The Quick and the Dead? April Fool’s Day is still a few days off.

Bad Company does rule, that’s a great one. Yeah Diner is a cool one. Just to see Paul Risor actually not sucking is shocking and should be seen at least once. I swear, Mad About You is one of my least favorite sitcoms of all time, but that’s besides the point. How about “The Wild Bunch” (1969 release date). The last scene of this movie ends with the title characters killing almost a the whole population of a Mexican village. Bad Company is great but how about Bad Boys! The great juvenile prison movie with Sean Penn. I swear, the luchroom fight scene and exploding “boom-box” scene are all time classics! Also “Shaft”, the original not the new one with Sam L (although I do love Sam L, but Busta Rhymes should stick to rapping). That’s it, I’m done this is becoming addicting, lol:)

Haven’t done the movie-mistakes one yet, but I used to get on the Nitpickers site a lot. Some funny stuff there.

Jaws, I think its the only movie I saw a million times. (You got city hands Mr Hooper you have been counting money all your life.)Cape Fear (DeNiro) ( I understand I am not your type , too Many tatoo’s, but you see there is not alot to due in prison, but desecrate the flesh. John Carpenters (The Thing.) Just like the whole premise, cold weather and in seclusion. (Duel) Stephen Spielberg early flick. Funny as hell. Its an action suspense movie , but I laughed all the way thrue it.

“10” and “Arthur” - R.I.P.: Dudley Moore.

I just had to add these in, been thinkin' about them, since I read the news yesterday about Dudley's passing.

I cant believe only one person mentioned GOODFELLAS. That is one of my 10 favorites. The other nine are: BARFLY… THINGS TO DO IN DENVER WHEN YOUR DEAD…WILD ZERO…THE TOXIC AVENGER…PHANTASM…DEATH WISH(gotta love Chuck Bronson) ROMEO IS BLEEDING…TRUE ROMANCE(cant believe noone mentioned that one)BEING JOHN MALKOVICH. Some honorable mentions are: anthing ny Kevin Smith(I grew up in New Jersey) FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS. FULL METAL JACKET…ROUNDERS…SERPICO. Also I just saw a movie called DONNIE DARKO. Must see.

brider, great call on Vision Quest. I first saw that movie when I was 17. At an impressionable age, that movie showed me it was cool to be dedicated to training and athletic goals. That one definately has a special place in my heart. Patricia, I just watched “Willow” on t.v the other night. For anyone who likes fantasy movies I think this was a great movie for a low budget flick. I also love “The Princess bride”. Ya it’s kinda sappy, but the sword fight between Mandy Patinkin (sp?) and the dude who plays the lead, is great. Also, what do you think about Gallipoli with Mel Gibson. It’s apparently a pretty good historical account and shows those Aussies got some big stones. Another great flick is " The quiet Man" with John Wayne and Maureen O’hara. I think it still holds the record for longest fist fight sequence in any film. The fight is typical John Wayne style with big looping, telegraphed punchs and lots of talking, but it’s still great entertainment. There’s also lots of great scenic, Irish countryside shots. Lastly I would like to include the only rodeo movie I’ve ever enjoyed, “My heroes have always been cowboys”, with Scott Glenn and Kate Capshaw. You gotta love scenes of guys climbin on 2000lb bulls and gettin rag dolled. That’s definately a T-man sport.

I might have missed these in the lists:
My favorites are 1.Ninja Scroll(now in 5.1 on DVD) 2. Blade- The first seen is worth the price of a rental 3. Bloodsport 4. Heavy Metal 5. Matrix 6. Das Boot 7. Victory 7. The great escape 8. The Wild Bunch 9. sniper 10. Band of Brothers series!

Hmmm, JAWS. Which I have on right now (DVD). Well then JAWS has a undeniably, absolute T-Man: Robert Shaw. And if you like Rober Shaw, then you MUST like The Sting. Which has Robert Redford and Paul Newman and I know you T-People agree that these guys are T-Men.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid?

Al Pacino is another actor that pops up in my head. Scarface (which has been mentioned), Dog Day Afternoon (LOVE this movie), Sea of Love, Carlitos Way (which isn't very good...).

Demo: I'm TRYING not to monopolize this thread! Really! I just.....can't......help.....myself......

Other T-Men material actors: Toshiro Mifune, Chow Yun Fat, Tony Leung (hey, I got a thing for them Asian actors *snicker*), Lee VanCleef, Russell Crowe (Romper Stomper), Brandon Lee (The Crow), Roy Scheider, Lee Marvin. And the usual: Clint, Sean, Robert DeNiro, etc.

Uh, as can be expected I got a whole list of T-Vixen'ish actresses.....

Loved all the posts. A few that were left out, or not mentioned enough, were; Spartacus, The Quiet Man (young J. Wayne and Victor McLaglen whisky drinking and fighting), and last but not least The Vikings!!!
