Too Much Dairy?

Is there such a thing as too much dairy? Currently, I eat (drink) six cups of non fat milk, a cup of cottage cheese, a cup of Yogurt. I guess I’m wondering if I have to be concerned with too much calcium. How about it?

It depends on your goals.
Everyone has a different opinion.
Personally,I don’t touch dairy unless it’s organic because of all the banned growth hormones they’re giving dairy cows these days.
However,I do believe raw milk is very healthy and should be consumed.

Ironically, the other day my dairy intake looked almost exactly the same (except I got skim chocolate milk). How do you get in six cups? Just curious. Excess calcium should get processed out of your body like vitamins do.

Dairy = good unless you have an allergy etc. and some say they bloat from it so if you do may have to cut it when trying to get ready for a BB contest.

My dairy on anj avereage day now.
4 cups skim
1 cups yoghurt
some cheese

about a month ago though I was on an uber bulk and taking in excess of 20 cups skin a day.

Find what works for you, and the calcium in milk etc is MUCH better than the pill form

Hope that helps,
Phill

I suppose it could be possible to overwhelm your body’s ability to produce lactase. It’s an unusually specialized enzyme.

Basically, if you have gastrointestinal issues (you know…) cut back. Otherwise, more power to ya.

I drink about 2-3L of full fat milk a day. As far as I know the only problems are if your lactose intolerant (there are various degrees of this depending on which mutation you do or dont have).

On the GH in cows, here in Aus we have the same laws as Europe, so what you can stick into the cow is very limited. However since signing the Free trade agreement with the US this may change (I think the only thing Aus got out of this was the financial equivalent of a cock up the arse).

I don’t know about raw milk, I thought it was illegal not to pasteurise and homogenise milk. Do you mean organic? Either way it certainly sounds interesting. Could you post a link or two?

Legal restrictions mostly effect the sale of raw milk.

Though, it’s still available for the animal’s owner, and many people go around the law by purchasing a share in an milk-producing animal.

Or take a lactaid sup or a milk with reduced lactose.

I get in six cups (three glasses, of course I measure everything out these days) throughout the day. One with breakfast, one after my workout and the last one around 3:00 in the morning.

I was buying some glucosamine/chondroitin complex yesterday, and I noticed that there are some choices with calcium mixed in. It got me wondering. Do I need more calcium? Am I getting more than enough as it is, right now? I haven’t exhibited any intolerance to dairy, so that wasn’t an issue.

Thanks guys, for your input.

In SOME states it is illegal.Even though, you can still buy raw cheese.
You can still get a hold of raw milk ,even if it’s illegal in a certain state, you can buy milk shares from organic farms and get some raw milk that way.

www.realmilk.com will even tell you where in your state you can get some.

just curious… what is the nutrient profile of raw milk?

90% whole raw milk including protein fat and carbs.

10% dirt, grass, ranch hand blood sweat and tears, and cow excrement.

MMMMMMMM good.

Umm, you might find that dairy has a binding effect… meaning that you’ll want to make sure you get plenty of water in general and lots of fiber.

On this topic, is it true that dairy can cause acne? To try to get more high quality protein, I’ve been having more milk and cottage cheese (and sometimes egg protein powder) over the past 4 or 6 weeks. This might sound strange, but I’ve gotten a lot of pimples on my rear shoulders! Fortunately, my face hasn’t gotten any. I use oxy pads on my shoulders now, but they don’t seem to do anything. Is this anything to worry about other than that the acne is a little unattractive?
