Too Many Trolls

Regardless of what I think about lixy, this is just an example of why it’s less fun to post here as a liberal than it used to: there used to be more intelligent conservative posters, too.

Standards are ever decreasing on both sides. Primitive bullies are what they are - whatever party line they follow.

Thanks, Zap, for trying to counter this trend, but I think it may be too late.

Makkun

I fear you may be correct.[/quote]

Even Boston post a lot less these days.

I think so too.

Come on back Makkun and balance things out a little. You were always shown respect and gave it in turn.

Ahh the good old days.

Vroom gave a good account of the other side as well. He’s been very quiet lately.

I have to admit that Zap’s initiative to regain some ground for non-moronic threads has re-motivated me bit - and for that I’m thankful (of course constantly striving to be a T-MAN, I would never admit that … or cry … in public).

I guess posters don’t stay forever, so there’ll always be some fluctuation. But, hell yeah, we’re not supposed to be quitters when the idiots take over - give me a good homophobic, human rights related or Euro-bashing thread, and you can count me in.

As the great Denny Crane would say “lock and load”!

I am working on starting a thread that includes all three for you. ;>

Kidding. Maybe.

There a still a few that post with intelligent positions that even though I disagree I enjoy reading but many others have deserted and I don’t blame them.

In fairness, I’d put beowolf in the category of intelligent lefties.

I agree, there seems to be a glut of guys like renny, tme, bradley/lumpy/100meters.

Hey, I like to get down in the muck and sling dirt with the best of them. However,

There’s no honor in trampling weaklings.

Hey, I just read this thread through and this

“I’d like my opponents to be at least competent.”

is funny stuff, considering you are definitely part of the crackpot-crew here (aka fact-free-folks). Come to think of it, other than Headhunter…you are the biggest(regular) nut here… am I right Libs or what?

favorite people that I totally disagree with:
SLOTH!
BOSTON!
Both smarter than I…but painfully wrong about everything.

For your inspiration:

“Disgusting: Euro-weenies give human rights to gays”

“Gay Europeans trample human rights of American soldiers in Iraq”

“EU human rights laws responsible for spreading gayness”

Damn, if I hadn’t come up with them myself…

Any thoughts on the new French President? Seems like the conservatives are on a roll in Europe these days.

A backlash to overindulgent social policy perhaps? Euro-neoconservatism taking root?

Not enough liberals to oppose them because of the liberal support of homosexuality cutting into procreation and a supply of new liberals :)(sarcasm alert)

makkun,

I have to tell you that I’m not one of those Conservatives who are getting very excited about the new french President.

We have a saying over here: “They are so french.” Translation: They will say boo when we say yea.

It doesn’t matter what the political affliation.

The only thing I’m particularly sore about today, euro-wise, are the austrians selling sniper weapons to the iranians.

Obviously I’m not a big fan of someone who uses right wings polemics to build his career upon - but the conservatives have held the French presidency for many years now. So - it’s not really a change in the general view on life, I’d say just a bit of a more aggressive specimen.

We all agree that France’s economy needs reform - with the German economy just taking nicely off again (under a left-right coalition government and after painful years of reform), I think that has sunk in. I don’t expect Sarkozy to have great ideas, but let’s give him the benefit of the doubt.

With Berlusconi gone (thank God, if I may say so as an atheist), and the UK still on Labour (now without the ballast of Tony Blair’s Iraq involvement), I’m not sure if the conservatives in Europe are really that much on the rise. I think that the close election results are symptoms of the undecidedness of the general population, and the programmatic proximity of the opposing parties.

Well, that obviously plays a role. Damn, I’m non-gay, but me and my liberal girlfriend don’t pro-create either…

Makkun

PS: I must admit, I have given the French election not too much thought, really and haven’t followed the thread, so I don’t really know the programmatic differences.

JeffR,

sorry for not answering your point in the lixy thread - I made that choice as I find this one so stupid, I’d rather help letting it die.

I think that’s actually quite an accurate assessment. I think it there’s chance to give the US the political middle finger, it will most probably be taken.

I think we are in danger of getting into the “Austrians”, “Germans”, “Martians” debate: I guess you are referring to Austrian traders who sell weapons to Iran. What a surprise - as long as it’s legal it’s arms trade and sucks; if it’s not legal, it illegal (and just like in so many cases e.g. in Germany, people will be prosecuted) and it sucks. Arms trading sucks.

And - Iran has been a major trading partner for many European countries over decades, whatever fucker was in power there. This includes the UK, and I’m sure it influences the stance that (even after the mariners kidnapping a couple of months back) the UK will not help with going against Iran, especially under Brown.

Now I’m confused. Doesn’t the Iranian people have the right to carry arms? Don’t they have the right to protect themselves against a potentially brutal regime?

Does this mean you don’t agree of the secret weapons deals your precious Reagon conducted with Iran either?

How in the hell did we get from talking about getting rid of trolls, to talking about the French election and Iran?

I’ll tell you how: Trolls.

Irony at its best.
