I take 4 scoops of Jack3d pre-workout and stop off at the gas station to get a sugar free Monster (the regular size, not the fucker with the twist off cap) and I chug that shit before I go do my workout. Am I going to die?
For reals, though, I feel like I need that much to get myself going. Otherwise I just feel dead in the gym and don’t want to do anything and my intensity is not there. It’s always been that way for me. I just started testosterone replacement therapy however and am hoping the extra energy once I get a decent doctor who will RX me the proper stuff will make it so I don’t need this crap any more. I am always feeling tired no matter what.
Anyways, I do this 3x a week. Should I be concerned for my health? I don’t plan on doing it for long though, just while I am finishing my strength cycle so maybe another month or two.
I tend to build up a tolerance to stims very quickly.
Sounds like a lot of stims… you might end up screwing yourself possibly with adrenal fatigue or other problems if you keep it up for too long
Have you tried Power Drive? It doesn’t have any caffeine or yohimbe or anything, so that might be a good alternative to crap-tons of caffeine your getting… And it works like instantly, really cranks up my mental intensity.
I generally have 100 to 300mgs every day of caffeine, but a few times a year I’ll back off for a bit and just have a little coffee.
If thats more than 300mgs of caffeine I might worry, but if it’s under that you might be ok. Just be sure to give yourself a rest from all those stims every once in a while.
Are you getting enough sleep?
Yes, although I wake up tired every morning. I am getting a sleep study done but my feeling is that it will be negative for apnea or anything. I think my problems stem from low T.

300mg isn’t that much once you build up a tolerance.
First handful of times I took 200 pre-workout I wanted to die. Now I can get close to a gram without fear of death.
I do not know how you guys handle caffeine. Used to take 350mg pre workout 5 months ago…2 weeks later had heart pains here and there and haven’t taken any since. Just keep my insulin sensitivity high now.
Depends on how you handle stimulants, some folks have a much lower tolerance and it can really screw you up.
But even if you do have a high tolerance that still sounds like you’re knocking on the upper end of where you should be. Try easing off for a little while. You don’t have to quit cold turkey but cut back a bit.
You’ll get more zing from less if you ease up.
My co-worker used to drink 2 large Monsters for breakfast. He did this for a while and screwed up his heart. He now has to take medications permanently (he says) to prevent irregular heart beats or whatever condition he has. He always warns me now when he sees me with an energy drink.
I also like to test energy drinks to see how much they kick before a work out. So far the best is Spike Shooter.
There was one energy drink though that really screwed me up. It gave me heart palpitations for about two and half weeks. I was really scared that it wouldn’t go away. I could feel my heart beating almost every single moment. What’s funny was I used to take that energy drink on a daily basis, but they’re new flavor was the one that messed me up.
Op, I suggest may be using stims only on squat days or dead lift days.

Squatting 3 times a week is retarded, taking 4 scoops of that shit Wack3D is retarded also. I bet your workouts are not nearly that brutal to warrant that amount of stims or are they your crutch because you can’t motivate yourself? You should no without asking what you are doing now is stupid.
If you need 4 scoops of Jack3d and a monster to get yourself “motivated”…maybe you should consider the possibility that you are working out for the wrong reasons.

I would suggest laying off of it for a while. You could make a pre-workout drink with creatine/aminos/carbs so you’re taking something…but you’re cutting out the stimulants. That way you’re still taking something to prepare yourself mentally, but you’re not going overboard. Now if you come back in two months and say you need 20g of creatine to train then you have a problem…
Random story, there was this guy at my old gym who wore a fanny pack (for his walkman)…drank 2 Spike Shotguns in the locker room before he trained, and proceeded to make all kinds of random loud noises. I’m not even talking about during lifting…this guy was grunting and barking in between sets.
Big guy too…He looked kind of like a lovechild of old school Jerry Lawler and Warren from there’s something about mary. Lord only knows what kind of music he was listening to.

I used to push it close to a gram at times.
Caffeine drives your adrenal gland where it shouldn’t go, so I wouldn’t mess with it too often. Stims like that I reserve for PR days.
