Too Fat for X-Rays

MSN

When will it dawn on some people that hay, maybe I should lose some weight? How about when you can no longer fit into a scanner! Unreal.

“More and more obese people are unable to get full medical care because they are either too big to fit into scanners, or their fat is too dense for X-rays or sound waves to penetrate, radiologists reported Tuesday.”

Hahaha, that just sounds funny.

Until you think about it.

I would wonder if being very muscular, such as a pro bodybuilder or powerlifter, would elicit the same problems. Besides, muscle is more dense than fat.

True, but I don’t think you can obtain 500 lbs of muscle.

Despite the increased density involved with muscle I doubt the actual thickness added is enough to create a situation similar to that of the fat people who can have as much as extra FEET of flesh obscuring some portions of their bodies.

Yes this can and has happened it was documented in the Documentary Stand Tall about Lou Ferrignos comeback to Competitive BB, Lous was having some low back-hip pain and went to see his Chiro they had trouble calculating the X-ray dosage because of his size and density they interveiwed the Dr briefly about this.

Right, because it has hidden benefits. They’re less likely to die from radiation poisoning.

they probably figure it’s OK as long as they’re not too big for a CT scan

Its like they’re some sort of super villian…

“My God Peterson, the x-rays…the x-rays can’t penetrate them! Wtf are we gonna do now?”
