Today's Article: "Lifters Over 30 Need to Get Real" is Pretty Silly

I train a shit ton harder in my 40s than I did in my 20s

I’m actually seething at the fact that I missed that prime gain period, training like an absolute pussy. If only I knew then what I know now

It’s a complicated topic because so much changes with age that negatively impacts training although in principle it doesn’t have to. Your average thirtysomething …

  • is slowly getting less flexible in his mind. Meaning, new exercises or sports won’t be enthusiastically tried out. It seems harder to get into new things
  • will injure himself easier when trying out stupid stuff.
  • total bodyweight is probably much higher and lean mass starts to go down. A twenty year old 160 pounder will hav fun trying out hurdlejumping. A 220 lbs dadbod wont even clear the bar
  • small deficits, injuries, imbalances and so on will have crept up unless taken care of, which most anateurs neglect - most don’t even realise their predicament!

It doesn’t have to be this way. If you keep in shape and know your body, greater strength and willpower should be a good deal over more endurance, flexibility and regeneration.

As I like to joke, I was born with the joints of an 80 year old man. So having the body of “only” a 30 year old would be awesome!!

Imagine if he was under 30.
