Thanks Shane. I think you’re right that it is a belt. It wasn’t a loud sound like the one in the video (that was funny btw)l. Very light sound that reminded me of a bike chain. It may have just been the 100% humidity that we had this morning. Everything in the garage was covered with condensation. I will keep an ear out and see if it continues.
I thought you would get a kick out of that guy. ![]()
I will let you know when I get notifications from peloton for maintenance and what they want me to do and when.
Thanks Shane. Try to remember me on those if you would. I would think they would program those reminders into the bike (based on usage, etc. like in a car) but maybe they just email them to people?
I will. Yeah either it popped up on the bike screen or they emailed me. I am pretty sure it was an email.

Comments: Just burning some calories this morning. Not a terribly difficult ride. After listening to it closer, the light clicking noise seems to be coming from the fly wheel. It might be the bearings. Might try to contact Peloton and see what to do.
Nice pace on that ride Trent! Hopefully whatever is wrong with the bike is cheap and easy to fix. I’ll be curious to see what you find.
Do you know how many rides or hours was on it when you got it?
Thanks Shane. I contacted support and sent them a video of the noise. It is the bearings. They are sending someone out on 2/9/24 to replace them. Costs about $200. I thought about trying to do it myself but after watching a youtube video about it there sure seemed like a lot of things could go wrong so at that price point I’ll pay someone else to do it. Now I’m just hoping the bearings will hold out until that service appointment. Also wondering how often that will need to be done. I’ve heard some people have this done every 6 months if they ride the bike daily. I’m not quite that frequent of a rider but still, that seems pretty excessive. I’ll bet the technician tells me I should keep the bike in the house and not out in the humid garage…
200 bucks, I guess that’s not bad.
I guess I am lucky. I have had mine for 2.5 years and only thing I have changed is the pedals.
Yeah, the part only costs $40. The labor is $160. You pretty much have to take everything off so I figured hell, I’ll pay $160 to let someone else deal with that. The one thing that kind of freaked me out was having to take off the cadence sensor and then reinstall once you’re done. I just get iffy about messing with sensors… Also, I’ll bet that the belt is not the easiest thing to get off and back on.
Yeah I watched the video. It doesn’t look too bad but I do a lot of my own motorcycle maintenance. Anytime I have to remove my tires I have to take speed sensors off. I am actually surprised that the bearing and assembly are only 40 bucks.
I listened to mine today and I do hear a slight noise but it is the resistance brake noise and not bearing noise because it goes away when I lower the resistance.
Yep, I agree. It doesn’t look too bad and I love to tinker with stuff like this but just don’t have the time right now. I’m pretty heavily dependent on this bike for cardio so I’d hate to screw something up and have to spend even more money to get it back up and running (and possibly be without it for a long time). I saw a few videos on the brakes touching. That didn’t look too bad to fix either. Just some minor adjustments.
Understand that as well. Time and more importantly your sanity is very valuable. I know working on tedious stuff at times tests both of those for me. ![]()

Comments: I think I’m getting a cold again. Well, at least I got a few weeks in since the last one… Decided to hit it anyway today. Had a work call early this morning so I started this around 10:00AM in the garage and then went to the gym. Doing 5x5 this week. Good session.
Wow. You got in a ton of good work Trent! Sorry to hear you are getting a cold again. ![]()
Hopefully it’s gone quickly.
Dang! And also leave some for the rest of us… great workload going on in here!
Thanks Shane. Seems like a pretty minor cold so that’s good at least.
Thanks! In the gym it didn’t read like a whole lot on my phone but when I got home and typed it out it seemed like a lot more. Maybe it was all of that shorthand typing I do in the gym on my phone. ![]()

10 Min Cool Down Ride – Emma Lovewell

Comments: Was a little short on time this morning so I had to put the pedal to the metal. Did Pendulum Squat for strength and omitted deads. I may do deads on pull day this week though. Then plowed through accessory work, went home and finished with about a 3-mile cool down on the Peloton. Those squat and deadlift supersets, while light weight, were still a PITA. I was using the same barbell too so that made it more challenging. That ride put me a mile or two into the “Gold” category for January. I think that is just over 150 miles for the month. Still way behind Shane though, I’m sure… The head cold is getting a little worse, but I still plan to train through it. The scale finally started moving in the right direction the last few days so I want that to continue. Planning to do either a metcon or Peloton ride tomorrow morning.
Kick ass leg day Trent. You certainly hit everything on that one.
Congrats on hitting 150 miles on the bike this month. Getting it done man. I am glad you are liking it.
Thanks Shane. Definitely got some looks cleaning the bar up and down switching from squats to deads and back. Just wanted to do something different… Yep, loving the Peloton. Can’t wait for it to be a little warmer out there.
