TM79's Training Journal

I ended up not having time to workout today. Time was limited to begin with. When I walked out to get on the Peloton it said that my membership had expired. Evidently the membership I got through my insurance company was a trial membership… So I need to figure out where the $528 is coming from…

That is the biggest rub with the peloton is the monthly membership. It is a tough one to swallow when I pay less for my gym membership than I do the Peloton, albeit, it is a family membership where that my wife and myself share.

I hear you Shane. I always thought you could use the App membership but evidently not for the bike (which doesn’t make a lot of sense… My gym membership is $34/ month. My company will supposedly pay $50 for my gym membership so I might see if they’ll just cover the Peloton membership instead.

Well the 50 bucks would cover the membership, should be a no brainer. It is actually a gym membership if you do the full membership. They have it all, even meditation and yoga.

Tell them you will even be more relaxed and happier with all that hippy stuff. Haha.

Cool Down
Peloton
10:00, 122 kcal

Comments: This cold has gone down to my chest now. I was going to go to the gym but I sound like death so I didn’t want to be that guy who is blatantly sick in the gym. So I’ll just do what I can in the garage.

Session: Decent session. Kept the weight and intensity pretty low. Finished with a 10:00 “Taylor Swift” Peloton cool down instead of a metcon. I’m sure my daughter would have loved that… Trying to take it easy but still get work in.

Good garage session Trent. Mucinex, just the 600 MG Gufawhatever stuff, and Theraflu tea daytime/night time has worked decent for me.

Hope you feel better soon.

Solid session Trent. You got a lot done. Nice job on those pull ups after all that rowing. Your biceps have to be feeling that work out.

I think everyone either has it, had it, or will have it. Everyone here I have talked to has been sick recently. At least our immune systems should be pretty kick ass going forward. :joy:

Thanks Shane. Yep, definitely not busting out 18 pull-ups after the assault bike and rows. :joy: Yeah, this is the worst cold I’ve had in a while. It will be nice to get past this shit… Hoping for a low key weekend and some recovery.

Comments: Shane inspired me so I got a low impact ride in. Had the garage door open and enjoyed some 65-degree air (with rain and gale force winds). Nice easy ride. My HR was in Zone 2 for a majority of the time with an overall average of 121 BPM. Felt good to get something in and hopefully my immune system didn’t take a hit.

It seems like the leaderboard on rides like these is almost meaningless. I pretty much stayed at the top of the cadence/resistance for the entire ride, so, that should, in theory, be the best that you can do. I guess some people auto-program and go faster, but, to me, that sort of defeats the purpose of the class? I don’t know. Still learning all this stuff…

Great job Trent. Nice pace for an easy ride. Especially with a cold.

People definitely ride their own pace on the peloton. There are some beasts on at the top.

Comments: Feel like I turned a corner yesterday with this cold. This was a pretty good session. My buddy ended up jumping in with my on squats, deads and the first round of accessory, so that slowed things down a lot. It was cool working with someone again. He had never done squats or deads so I was coaching him through it. Good times…

That reads like a heck of a workout Trent. Lots of good movements knocked out. Fun to be able to lift with a friend, I haven’t done that myself in years. Good on you for coaching him through the squats and deads. :+1:

Thanks Shane. I had kind of a panic moment when he asked if he could jump in. Like you, it has been many years since I trained with someone else. Probably all the way back to college for me. I’m just not used to taking the time between sets and talking to someone, etc. It was fun, but definitely took longer. He walked up when I had 205 on the bar doing squats and asked if he could jump in. I obliged but insisted that he take most of the weight off the bar. On his first set he did 135 and was doing half reps. On his last set I had him drop down to 95 and go all the way down to the box and he was like, “holy sh#t!” I was coaching him on how to do low bar squats and explaining the different queues between those and high bar squats. His second set looked much better. Minimal forward knee movement and sitting back nicely like sitting down into a chair. Still, he’s going to be feeling that tomorrow. :joy:

Half squats? Yeah those are always fun to fix. Definitely makes a difference squatting to a box.

I am sure he will have a new love/hate relationship with squats tomorrow. :joy:

Half squat are easy to fix. Enter the box… He is definitely going to be feeling that tomorrow though. That was, more or less, his first real leg day. I’ll never forget the day after mine.

Comments: They cancelled school today because of the storm so I slept in until 7:30 this morning. My buddy texted and wanted to run to and from the gym at 8:30 so I agreed and ran up there with him. Good session overall and it felt nice to run in 65-degree weather. Hopefully everyone fairs well in this storm. It looks pretty nasty.

I have to say I am a little disappointed that his legs felt good enough to run today though… He has the cold plunge tank so maybe that is his secret.

Kick ass workout Trent. I love the fact that you can run a mile to your gym, that is awesome man. I love doing push ups after your triceps are toasted. It really puts all the stress on your chest.

That is interesting about his legs being fine. I wonder if those cold tanks really are that useful.

Good luck with the storm. Lots of rain and wind is what we are getting.

Thanks Shane. I love just torching a muscle group like that. I know a handful of guys who do the cold plunges and swear by them. I even know one guy in the neighborhood that goes up and jumps in the pool (which sounds like a good way to get some disease as it hasn’t been maintained in months). My buddy invited me to try it a few times and I told him I’d rather die in agonizing pain than jump into a cold tank of water. :joy:

Pool doesn’t sound fun and those tanks are not cheap! If you want to really save money you could just go surf without your suit. :joy:
