TM79's Training Journal

Good looking workout Trent. I’m always amazed at the volume of work you’re able to get in. Very impressive!

Comments: First time doing a Power Zone ride. I’m still not sure what that means. I’m guessing Zone 2-3 HR. The instructor was Denis Morton. Good class. I feel like if I’m going to be in that heartrate zone I should be doing at least 60 minutes. Very cool class/technology though. Definitely enjoyed it.

Good to hear you enjoyed the class Trent. :slightly_smiling_face:

The power zones are not heart rate based. They are out put based and set on your Functional Threshold Power. There are 7 zones.

There is a test you take, and once taken you will be asked if you want to update your power zones. You will then be given a new power zone bar that will be at the bottom of screen. I will take a pic of mine tomorrow.

The test you take is pretty tough. Take it well rested and warm up before taking it.

You can find it by searching powerzone FTP test.

Sounds like a good ride today Trent. Nice job!

Thanks Shane! I remember you mentioned that FTP test but had forgotten about it. If it is intense I might take it tomorrow morning as I was going to do a metcon. Looking forward to it.

Last night I ordered some snap-in toe cages so I can use the bike for interval work during metcons/workouts. I can snap them in like the shoes and then take them out if I just want to use the Peloton shoes and ride. Looking forward to that.

Thanks Greg!

Shoes do make a difference on the ride. Sounds like you got the perfect combination of pedals.

Comments: Didn’t realize I did that much work until going back and reading it all. I’ll call that a win. I have an ultrasound of my left abdomen today to address some pain and swelling I’ve had for almost two months. I’ve had this before and it has gone away. Figured I’d get it checked out. The appointment is at 4:00PM and I’m supposed to be fasting and not drink anything for 6 hours before. About to get a big breakfast from McDonalds. Ha ha…

Damn, leave some weights for the rest of us. :joy:

That was a hell of a workout Trent!

Good luck with your Dr appointment.

I agree with Shane on that one…damn!

Hopefully the McDonalds did your right…

Thanks Shane. I think this week I did too much leading up to my 1RM attempts. Oh well, better luck next cycle… Lots of accessory work today. That’s for sure. Ultrasound went OK I guess. The lady gave me a hard time for having a few sips of water in the 6 hours leading up to it. I was like, “well, I worked out this morning. I was talking to people all day long at work. Didn’t think a few sips of water and about 30 pieces of gum was that bad???” Can’t please everyone I guess…

Thanks Greg. I was crunched for time so I went to old faithful, Chick Fil A instead. I figured I would get my food a lot quicker there. :sunglasses:

Comments: Nice frigid morning for the FTP test. Honestly, I could have gone a little harder. I thought we were supposed to stay in Zone 4 and just stayed there until about 7:00 to go when the instructor finally stopped mentioning zones and I just put the pedal to the metal. With about 2:00 left he finally said, “Just push it! Zone 5!”. Could have gone harder but it was probably wise to pace myself and not run out of steam. On the Precor bike it’s not uncommon for me to spend the last 15:00 - 20:00 in Zone 5 so I guess I was used to it. Very cool test. Really digging this thing. :sunglasses:

Nice job Trent! Now that you have an FTP score you have a bench mark to improve. :+1:

That’s some good work on your test. I have the feeling that if I spent much time in Zone 5 I’d have to put the pedal to the metal to get to the ER.

LOL Thanks Greg. I think will all of the trail runs you do you’d be fine for ten minutes in Zone 5. :sunglasses:
