Comments: Good session. I wasn’t feeling it this morning but just put my nose to the grindstone and got after it. I have to say, the recumbent bike sucks. I am sitting down watching TV but have to pedal. It’s just weird to me… Decided to do some heavyish squats. Felt something weird in my knee on the second to last set but kept going and it felt OK. Accessor was solid and then finished off with some good interval work. Done.

Agreed on the recumbent bike. They definitely feel like we are not old enough to be using them yet. :joy:

Solid squats though. Glad the knee wasn’t serious and you were able to push through.

Ha ha, glad I’m not the only one. It was nothing but older folks and me on that thing. Thanks on the squats!

Comments: Had to split this workout up big time today. Did strength in the garage before taking the kids to school. Then took about an hour break and hit the gym to finish up accessory and a metcon. Was very happy with 3x125 on OHP. Overall, didn’t have that much time for accessory and a metcon but still a decent effort.

That was a very respectable day moving the iron Trent. Congrats on the triple at 125 on OHP. Very impressive hitting that after the heavy BP.

Looks like you got in a heck of workout in the gym as well. I hear on dips smoking the triceps. They are such a killer exercise. Nice numbers on those!

Thanks Shane. The time break out on that strength session was about 18:00 for Bench and 7:00 for OHP. I was doing sets with less than 1:00 rest for about 4 sets and then slowed down for the last few. I was just going to try for a single or double at 125 and was pumped to get 3 reps.

Thanks on accessory. I was working pretty fast on a lot of those sets with barely any breaks. At one point I looked down at my watch during the cable rope/lat raises and my HR was 165. :joy:

Even more impressive on that short of rest between sets.

Way to check the cardio box and get a good ride in Trent. Those clock punchers are just as important as the others. :muscle:

Metcon
From Josh Bridges
For Time:
100 Devil’s Press, 2x40 lb DB’s

24:29, 360 Cals, 166 BPM

Comments: Josh Bridges posted this one yesterday and it looked brutal so I had to try it. I got to 75 and my daughter walked out 5 minutes early to go to school. I’m not going to punish her for being early so I stopped and took her to school. My wife said, “Why don’t you just finish when you get back?” This ain’t that kind of workout. You either make it through or you don’t…

So I came home, walked back into the garage, looked down at those dumbbells, started my watch and started over. The second time I just did all sets of five with a short break after each set. My shoulders were smoked by the halfway point but I pushed on through. Josh probably did this in ten minutes but at least I finished. Ha ha!

Wow. You put in a lot over the past 2 days. Deads and weighted pull ups in the garage was a heck of a workout on it’s own. Then the gym workout followed was even more intense.

That metcon from today was nuts man. I appreciate the offer to join you but no thanks. :joy:

Thanks Shane. Yeah that was a good session yesterday and then to do that metcon 1.75 times was not the easiest thing I’ve ever done. :joy:

Comments: Kind of hit the bottle a little too hard on Friday night and woke up with a mustached on Saturday morning. I haven’t seen my chin(s) in almost 25 years. They are certainly not getting any smaller… Shaved the mustache off Saturday night and am now free of facial hair. It’s pretty weird…

Session: Put up a good showing on squats in the garage. Haven’t hit 285 in probably 6 months or more. Then dropped my daughter off and hit the gym. I threw bench in there to have it done for the week. Can’t believe I missed that rep at 225 but luckily had a spot. Accessory work was good. Didn’t get to super set much as there were more people around today. Did some intervals on the bike to finish it off. Done.

That was some manly freaking squats Trent. I guess the facial hair isn’t what was giving you your strength on legs, but maybe it was your secret to hitting the heavy bp.

Do you feel any younger? I know after shaving growing and then shaving my mustache off I definitely looked younger.

Solid work regardless of the facial hair. :sunglasses:

Ha ha, yeah the squats went up pretty well. The bench did not. Although I have never tried 225 at this gym before today. I have hit 215 a bunch of times there. I’m thinking maybe there is a variation in the actual weight of the plates or barbell compared to mine and I was having an off day or something. Oh well… 215 did go up really easy though so I’m surprised.

I might look a little younger with no facial hair, but my big ass second chin has now been exposed so that probably takes away any youthful quality of not having facial hair. :joy:

Comments: Good session(s). I ended up doing strength before dropping my daughter off and then hitting the gym for accessory afterwards. I’m liking mixing my strength work back up again but only doing one muscle group for accessory. I probably had a rep at 385 on deads but my daughter had come out and was ready to go so I stopped there. Maybe next cycle… Accessory work was good. AMRAP sets mixed with other movements. That metcon was also a good one. Kept the HR up and got lots of looks doing burpee pull-ups.

You are crushing this week Trent. Strong hex bar deads today.

Those people watching you do burpee pull ups were probably wondering if you were ok. :joy:

Seriously though, damn impressive work today!

Ha ha, yeah they probably thought I had lost my mind. Thanks on the deads. Felt good to do some heavyish ones again.

Sweet cal dump Trent! That’s a heck of a workout. 700 cals is no joke.

Great job!
