TM79's Training Journal

Nice swimming Trent. I doubt I could swim a mile, but I don’t think I have ever tried either. :joy:

Ha ha, thanks Shane. Yeah, most sane people probably wouldn’t try to do that… A mile is 70 laps, so it gets pretty old. I’d say it’s just as much a mental challenge as it is a physical one. This morning the guy in the lane next to me is one of the few people in the neighborhood who really comes off like an a$$hole, so that gave me extra motivation to keep going and push it harder than usual. This dude had on a speedo and swim cap. I walked out there hungover, wearing boardshorts with my afro hanging out and just crushed it. Ha ha ha…

Comments: I did a shortened version of this one a while back and wanted to do the full version this morning. This was not a heavily taxing metcon by any means but got the blood flowing some. I moved the Airdyne outside and enjoyed the sunrise while I sweated it out. It had just stopped raining before this so the humidity is 1,000%. We are leaving for Asheville in a little while so I’m looking forward to some cool mountain air and hopefully some hiking. See you on Monday.

Comments: Ate like crap up in the mountains. Then stopped at Zaxby’s on the way home to load up on sodium. Not surprised by the weigh-in this morning. Lower back and knees are hurting for this too. Probably from sleeping on random beds and the 6-hour drive yesterday. This is my heavy week and I decided to do this session in the garage as there are less distractions here than in the gym. (Last heavy squat day another guy in the gym was singing “Jessie’s Girl” during my heaviest set, etc.)

Strength: This went pretty well. Just kind of run down and sore. Didn’t push it too heavy.

Accessory: Came up with this on the fly. 8 reps moderate weight plus 16 reps light weight. Good stuff.

Intervals: This was good. Just pounding it out.

Done.

Way to jump right back into the fire with some heavy squats and bench after vacation. Great looking workout Trent.

Smart move to skip the gym distractions. :joy:

Welcome back.

Thanks Shane. Yeah, that probably wasn’t the best call to jump right into that after spending most of yesterday in the car. You win some you lose some I guess… It was a good session overall. Completely drenched in sweat by the end, that’s for sure. It’s funny. I’m starting to not like the gym so much now. I love all of the options in there but don’t really like having to deal with the other people.

I hear you on the gym. That is what a good set of headphones are for. LoL. Of course that doesn’t fix the issue with having to wait on equipment though.

Looked like a great ride to me! Solid pace and definitely torched some cals.

Comments: Got into the Tostitos last night…

Just a warmup on the Airdyne and then a massive strength session. Was out of time after that so I will do some more conditioning and accessory work later this week. Stopped a little short of recent PR’s on Hex Deads as that last set went up a little weird. Was happy to get 80 lbs on Pull-ups and 135 is always a decent finishing weight for me on OHP. Done.

Kick ass day in the gym today Trent. Definitely a meat and potatoes workout there. Great numbers across as well. + 80 on pull ups. Wow!

Thanks Shane. It’s fun to have those days once in a while. I used straps on that last pull-up rep. My hands were dripping in sweat and that wasn’t helping me grip the bar. Ha ha…

That’s a lot of work.

Comments: This was a good one. Josh was using 315 lb deads and 225 bench. I tried to pick a weight for these that I could get a set of 20 on a good fresh set, but today I ended taking a break at about rep 14-15. The burpee pull-ups went slow and subbed in the treadmill steps with motor off for sled push. Good stuff.

Now I get to mow my yard for the first time in two weeks. So about a 3-mile sled push. Ha ha…

Looked like a good one Trent. 20 rep deadlifts, wow. I remember doing 20 reps on 225 and it about feeling like it killed me. :joy:

Add in burpee pull ups on top of that, wow.

Good luck on the yard mow!

Thanks Shane. Man, if you were doing 20x225 on deadlifts you are a legit madman. :joy: That was a tough one, then the yard took every bit of 1.5 hours. I think I drank 4 bottles of water after all of that and still haven’t had to take a piss. :joy:
