Comments: Took the last 5 days off with a mild chest and head cold. It is still lingering today but I wanted to get back to it. I still have a little cough and runny nose but, to be honest, I can’t tell how much of it is the grass pollen, which gets me every year. I did a fair amount of yard and house work this weekend. My energy levels were good so I decided to get back in the gym this morning. We are planning on going down to Florida next week so I am just doing some bodybuilding style training. The higher reps definitely did the trick as I was noticeably sore even during my session. First time doing the Dyna Body squat machine. I really like that one and will start plugging it in regularly.
All weekend I watched decent waves come in from my cell phone while I was at soccer or at the house. Plenty of waves and I was not on any of them. Well, this morning I said screw it and paddled out for an hour. Caught some pretty fun ones on the longboard. It was good to get out there.
That was definitely a good session Trent! Good to hear you were feeling good enough to get back at it today. Had to look up the Dyna Body squat, that thing does look legit. We have a machine kind of like it at my gym but the dyna looks a lot better. Awesome you were able to get some surfing in!
Thanks Shane. Yeah, I have been looking at that machine for months but was never sure how to use it and today I finally took the plunge and figured it out. During that time I saw maybe half a dozen people using it so it is not one of the more popular squat machines in the gym. Not sure why because that thing is amazing. I put my feet up on the 45 degree (guessing) foot pad. There was no pressure whatsoever on my knees or lower back. It was probably the most natural feeling squat machine that I have ever used. I was only doing one plate per side and was easily getting sets of 20 so I should probably try to work up to something heavier at some point. The video linked below is a great explanation.

8 Bench Press, 135 lb

Comments: Gorgeous morning for an open-door session. 60 degrees, sunny and a light breeze. The 20-rep sets were tough. Accessory was long and fun. A nice mix of different weight and reps. That metcon was loosely borrowed from Josh Bridges. I couldn’t really get more than 8 reps on bench because my chest is smoked from yesterday. Gotta love it. Have a good day!
Nice workout Trent! Good pace on that workout. Got to love those nice mornings where you can open the garage door and enjoy the outside while you workout.
Comments: Woke up early and hit the gym a few minutes after 6:00AM this morning. I was going to take it easy but started getting bored so I switched it to the variety setting and put the pedal to the metal. Out of time at 40:00 so that was it. Not a great pace at 16.2 mph but it was a ride nonetheless.
Honestly, I have no idea. Probably a lot faster than I am. Shane has a Peloton and usually averages 17-18 mph plus over a time span of 45:00-60:00. I, on the other hand, ride the Precor upright stationary bike at the gym and usually average 16-17 mph. As much as I would love to think that the Precor bike is calibrated differently and has a negative bias I think Shane is just faster than I am.

Comments: Back to winter this morning at 42 degrees. Had to open the door to do the running because I’m still hesitant to use my treadmill (since it blew the GFCI last week). I’m down to one outlet in the garage and all the exterior outlets don’t work. Need to get an electrician out here ASAP.
Metcon: That was a good one that I’ve been sitting on for a while. Dan did all the barbell stuff with 155 lbs and did 5 rounds in 16:00, LOL. He was doing a 300-M Row instead of the 400-M Run so that was a little shorter but that guy is a beast. I lowered the weights and added a round. Still got the blood flowing.
Thanks Shane. Dan was doing conventional deads at 155 lb in his. I switched them to Hex and dropped the weight. That was a good metcon. My neighbor is in the Secret Service and works out in his garage every morning. I saw him working out over there like he always does and gave him a wave as I came back from the first 400 M run. I usually don’t do runs like that but am doing them because of the treadmill/electrical issues. I could see him just sort of looking over and wondering what I was doing. Pretty funny…
The GFCI, IMO is screwed. I turned the treadmill on last week and heard something sizzling in there (in the GFCI) last week. That’s when all of the outlets stopped working… My guess is the GFCI is fried. I pushed the reset button several times right when it happened and it immediately tripped again over and over. Something is fried…

10 Back Extensions
10 Calf Raises
6:20, 74 Cals, 140 BPM
Comments: Just insane how much we have going on right now. Daughter is home sick now. We are selling a car, getting the other repaired and trying to get extra funds together to buy the rental house. Not to mention work is crazy…
Session: Good session despite being drained. Had some knee pain (for the first time in forever) during DB deads. Shane, you may want to try omitting those. Hopefully that resolves. It didn’t hurt during conventional deads afterwards. Overall just a bunch of accessory work. Done.
Nice freeday workout Trent. Looked like a great full body session and a great way to put those hush puppies to work. Interesting that you had knee pain with the DB deads. I like doing DB RDL’s so I don’t really start from the floor. They don’t seem to bother my knee much.
Good luck with the rental house and car sale and repair on the other car. That is a lot of moving parts, especially while dealing with a sick kid. I hear you on work. Mine is nuts right now too. Going to be doing another Saturday tomorrow.
