Did any one see Anderson Silva?s bitch-slap Chris Leben? It was a thing of beauty.
Someone had to close that mouth. I am all for fighter’s personalities shinning through and their charisma is always welcomed. He’ll I think Tito is hilarious and enjoy watching him, but guys like Leben who seem to endlessly talk about the destruction and terror they unleash everytime they are in the ring, who talk constantly about tearing anyone apart with utter ease, and rarely deliver get kind of annoying.
You don’t see guys like George St. Pierre, Fedor, Rich Franklin, talking endlessly about how utterly superhuman they are? Then you have guys like Matt Hughes and Tito who do have quite large egos but can actually back it up to a respectable point. With Leben, it seems like the more he talks before a fight the worse the beating…for him.
Trading strikes with Silva isn’t a good idea, he is litearly about twice as fast, and twice as accurate much more of a refined striker, and let’s get something else straight, no one has a true iron chin, anyone can be knocked out.
It’s great that GSP is Biotest sponsored he is a fantastic fighter, and an incredible athlete.
As to Ken vs. Tito, yes Tito is the likely winner but anyone not giving a healthy Ken at least a 40% chance is kidding themselves. Tito also decided to fight with a bad knee. We saw what happened when Forrest low kicked that knee. He actually apologized for that!
The ideal strategy for Ken would be to target the knee with kicks, then rock the momentarily off-balanced Tito to the ground, and pounce on that knee. It would be a mistake if he tried to GNP.
With that said, I still think Tito will win if he protects his knee.

Ahahahahah. 40%? You know he already fought and beat shamrock right? Shamrock even at his peak was a mediocre fighter, and now he’s old and past his prime.
Shamrock has always been overhyped, and could never deliver.

It was the first time I saw a fighter get knocked out TWICE in the same fight.
You don’t remember Tyson’s fight where he first captured the belt? Guy gets up, falls back down again, tries to stand up, flops back down again. Finally the last time he tries to stand up the ref catches him.

That’s the thing people cannot quite grasp!
What did Shamrock ever win?
He never won a UFC tournament. Most people think he did.
What he won, and what made him his name (beyond the hype) was a “Super Fight” victory over Dan severn. He beat him with a Guillotine choke.
Who else of any noteriety did he face and actually defeat?
He fought Royce Gracie twice. Royce tapped him out the first time. And the second time in the “Super Fight” they fought to a draw.
He fought Don Frye and lost.
He fought Rich Franklin and lost.
He fought Fujita and lost.
He fought Sakuraba and lost.
He did defeat Kimo and Otsuko…big deal!
Shamrock has always been about hype. He seems to be a marketable commodity for some reason.
He’s a brawler and a leg lock guy, and he has refused to grow (or was incapable) and get better over the past 10 years.
And I attribute his inability to beat anyone of the top fighters to his limited skills.
I probably seem to be the minority here in my thinking, but I think that many fail to give Shamrock his due. Watch old tapes of the UFC, and I’d have to say he was impressive…back when there were no weight classes, when they didn’t wear the fighting gloves, and the fights eventually got banned in the States and they had to have them in Puerto Rico and such
Ken didn’t start off in professional wrestling, he got into it much later because he had a family that he needed to support (and he obviously didn’t have the smarts to have an actual job). He started off as a street brawler, got into Pancrase, became King of Pancrase, then went to the UFC…
Having said that, it pains me to see Shamrock still fight nowadays, I DO agree with all of you that he should’ve retired a while ago… I would like to see him beat Tito, but unfortunately that scenario seems to be next to impossible

He beat Bas Rutten in Pancrase, twice I believe. Just thought that was noteworthy, since Bas was a heavyweight champion in the UFC at one point.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe those Pancrase fights were open-handed striking matches, so they were basically a grappling match. Plus it was very early in Bas’ career. Not taking away from Shamrock’s victories, but just trying to view them in the correct context.
I don’t want to see Shamrock fight again. He really doesn’t deserve a rematch after that last beating Tito gave him and his subsequent UFC bouts. Tito probably doesn’t mind collecting a paycheck for the priviledge of beating his ass though.
