It’s like when they take a ring laser gyro to “disprove” the rotation of the earth. Then when it shows the earth rotates exactly 15 degrees an hour, they say “oh it’s because of the electromagnetic radiation being pumped out by the global conspiracy of spherical Earth manipulating the device”. Then they encase the gyro in a faraday cage and it still shows the same thing leading them to come up with an even more far fetched excuse.
You could also point out that when flying an airplane there is a small but not insignificant difference in ground speed vs airspeed. This is only true if the earth is round.
ok lets say we do this. what does it prove? lets say you are in europe and i’m in the usa. my morning your afternoon. 8am here, 5pm for you. my shade will angle west. your shade will angle towards east. generally speaking. in relation to the sun, i’m towards the ‘west’ and sun rises in the east. for you the sun sets towards the ‘west’. what exactly do you want to measure and how. the length of the shade? the angle in relation to a compass? lets say my shade is 270 degrees west. you shade is 45 degrees NE. and what does it proof? in the FE model, all it shows that the sun is at XY distance from you which is what it exactly is.
Here is an experiment that a person with sufficient funds could accomplish at sea level. Get a sea worthy ship and leave Miami, FL sailing east. Your aim is to keep magnetic north on your port side. Sail into the Mediterranean Sea. Keep heading east and pass through the Suez Canal and into the Indian Ocean. Keep sailing east going below India and head into the Pacific Ocean. Are you keeping magnetic north on your port side? Sure you are. Pass by Hawaii and head toward Central America. Now proceed to the Panama Canal and pass through it. And now head back home to Miami, FL. All the while magnetic north was never on the starboard side of the ship.
Conclusion: At the bare minimum the earth has to be a cylinder to accomplish that feat.
If the earth were flat magnet north would have had to been off the starboard side of the ship as much as it would have had to be on the port side of the ship. Simple geometry.
You could claim that magnet north was in cahoots with the CIA. I like that.
Don’t even have to leave the port. Just watch a cruise ship leave Miami heading due east with a powerful telescope. The part of the hull below the mast will be out of view before the top of the mast.
Only works if, like you said, the shape is at minimum a cylinder. Repeat in all directions and it could be shown to be curved in all those directions too.
circumnavigation is a popular myth, which was never accomplished. all those trips were taken to the most convenient route, usually port to port. your idea is just a theory. all circumnavigation have been either east wards or west wards, the compass you are talking about is where north always points to the center of the earth (north pole), which is the earths mid-point. ‘south’ is simply every line which extends from the north pole. in the pre-compass times, north was simply towards the polaris star, which never changes its position. (hint it stay in same position above the center of the earth)
your idea is pretty close ‘if somebody had enough money, he could fly to space’. it is just theory based on the assumption that the earth is a globe. but the evidence for a globe is just not there.
I think I get the gist of your flat earth map. More simple geometry.
On the earth as a globe the distance from Punta Arenas, Chili to Johannesburg, South Africa is 5,138 miles. How many miles is it on your flat earth map?
The circumference of the earth at the equator is 24,901 miles. If I understand your picture of the flat earth, the circumference of the outer edge of the earth would be double that. So if the circumference is C=2piR, the double the radius doubles the circumference. And the outer edge is twice as far as the distance that the equator is from the center. Then the circumference of the outer edge would be double that of the equator, or 49,802 miles.

This is the first time I had the opportunity to converse with a true Flat Earther. I was always interested how they processed their thinking. I hope you have the backbone to stay in there.
As @jcpjcp has shown, if you live on disc the sun rises at the same time for everyone, it is noon at the same time for everyone, and just to be consistent, the sun sets at the same time for everyone. And you guessed it. It is night time at the same time for everyone. A nice neat world. Who needs time zones. Flat Earth Standard Time.
Just curious: Does the flat earth disc rotate on its axis or does the sun rotate around the flat earth?
