Tiny Freak Goes Ninja

Konstantinovs…love that guy.

Training looks good in here, cutie patootie.

I’m a little late with responding to this…but your good mornings have really shot up in weight! Very impressive. I use 65 pounds and it’s not particularly hard but my hammies are sooooooooooooo sore for days afterwards so I am always reluctant to add weight.

Lula, here is the Amazon link but if it doesn’t work the book is called “Runner’s World Run Less Run Faster” by Pierce, Muir and Ross:

The reason I chose it is because I can only run three days per week. Both because that is all the time I have to devote to running, and because I need to be very, very careful that I have enough recovery time. Between lifting, cycling/skiing and running, that is alot of stress on my body.

Apparently, most running programs are 5-6 day per week deals. This was the only one I found that was set up for three days of running workouts a week, with two days of cross-training which I do already.[/quote]

That looks great, thanks! I’ve had really great success with Runner’s World programs in the past, I am sure it will serve you well too!

This is exactly what I was going to say. Everything is coming together really nice, Kimba.

I like the momentum - keep it rollin’!

Came here for the hawt ass in blue jeans.

Am not disappointed.

Happy New Years dolly!

just stopping by to say HIIII!!!
can’t wait to see what the New year brings for you!

Sorry about the foot. HOpe that heals up quickly. And very impressive ab roll outs! I had to try those for fun yesterday. Eeek! I can barely manage my body weight!

You’re a sick woman, Kimba! (I’m referring to the ab rollouts of course).

Interesting about the book. I trained for my half marathon on one run a week. No way can I run 5-6 days. I don’t think many people with jobs, lives and families can. More to the point, I don’t think it’s good to run that often. Three days is manageable.

Looking so pretty in your jeans up there. Happy New Year, Kimba!

happy tiny new year

that rollout video is sick

maybe you need a size xs weighted vest

Happy New Year’s our tiny ninja!!

Here’s to 2012!! xoxo

Happy New Year to all of the strong and awesome girls and guys who stop by here. You’ve added so much to my life by your presence and company.

I’ve spent the last few days babying my sore foot. Today we went into town, walked around a bit to see the New Year’s sights and sounds, ate junky food and drank a bit (hard pear cider and a vodka n’ soda). Now I’m home on the couch…no better way to ring in a new year.

Happy new year Kimba–I hope that foot is healing up quickly!

wow those rollouts are freakycool. i think i found myself a new goal. unfortunately i need to start with dead bugs and shit like that :frowning:
happy new year kimba. hope your foot mends up soon and you have a fabulous running year.

git, my Konstantinovs videos originally came from you. Perhaps you have created a tiny ab-roll-out-monster?

DiscoDani, 65 lbs. on good mornings and taking them all the way down makes my hammies sore as well. I find that as I go up in weight, my range of motion becomes less. Which is OK for the purpose I’m using the GMs for (to mimic my sumo deadlift stance) but probably not as hard on the ole hammies. Thanks for stopping by!

lula, the whole idea of following a running program is a new one for me. This program looks reasonable, the paces based on my one-and-only 5K time don’t look that daunting, and I’m willing to try anything once!

Maschy, momentum hit a little snag with my foot injury, but I feel like I’m back in the game after a nice, restful deload. Which otherwise I wouldn’t have taken!

Hallowed, thanks for the kind words. Hawt asses – well, you know something about those!

Betty, I’d say the same right back to you – I can’t wait to see what 2012 brings to both of us!

Nadia, re: the foot issue. I remembered that the last time I had a foot issue (last January, in fact) you had passed on some advice on hot/cold contrast baths. I went back and looked up that post and did that to the letter of the instructions for the past four days. Today – my foot feels good.

Cal, I completely agree with your view that running almost every day is unmanageable. For me (and you too) that sort of focus would only lead to injury. Apparently, however, lots of distance runners train exactly this way. Why else would all these running programs be 5-6 day a week affairs?

PP, come back with a log in 2012! I miss hearing from you on a semi-regular basis.

kmc, if weighted vests didn’t cost so darn much I would LOVE one. As it is, I’ll stick weights on my back and amuse the other denizens of the weight room with those antics.

alexus, I’d love to see you do some of these ab rollouts! It would be good company.

As I mentioned in my comment to Nadia, my foot feels much better. I didn’t totally rest it: there were some easy tandem bicycle rides and a bit of walking in town on New Year’s Eve. I was, however, very careful not to do anything that would really irritate the affected tendon. Today I woke up and the foot felt…pretty normal.

So, I ran on it. Just an easy 2 miles at a 10:00 min/mile pace. I iced the foot upon returning home as a precaution, but I seem to have suffered no ill effects. I’ll try it again on Thursday adding a bit of distance. Having learned my lesson in 2011 with coming back from IT band issues, I am taking this slowly.

Yesterday hubby and I tried out a new gym on a guest pass because our regular gym was closed. This was a big, high-brow place and I was expecting fancy equipment. Not. Older benches, non-round plates and one lone beat up squat rack. Still, there was a decline barbell bench and a chest-supported row machine neither of which I have at my regular place, so I was happy.

I was in deload mode and keeping off my gimpy foot, so I went with volume instead of heavy load.

Bench press
Bar 1 x 5
65# 1 x 5

Decline bench press
Bar 1 x 5
65# 5 x 10

supersetted with

Kroc Rows
45# 4 x 5, 1 x 7

First time in awhile with a 45# DB. I wanted to make it through all five sets so I played it conservative on the reps. I’ll add reps next week.

supersetted with

Dips
BW 5 x 12

Apparently no-one in this gym had ever seen a female bang out dips before. I felt somewhat like a zoo animal.

Chest supported row machine
25 lb. plate 3 x 10

Ab rollouts
BW 2 x 10, 1 x 5

Then onto the bike for a lovely ride to and from lunch (a hamburger with gruyere cheese and carmelized onions…mmmm).

Now thats a damn fine day of overall training.

yeah, nice training. how did you feel being a zoo animal?? i’ve been making use of lots of free passes lately and am amusing myself somewhat with discovering what the people seem most impressed by. different things in different gyms. probably not so good for my training… but kinda fun. did people go all buggy eyed?? i alternate between feeling self conscious / embarrassed and proud…

Ahahaha I has NEVER seen a woman doing dips at my gym either!

Best believe I’d take an oogle at ya.

Nice lil sesh up there! And by lil I mean kickass.

Joe, I tried to start off the year like I mean to continue.

alexus, I feel like a zoo animal alot in my own gym which is populated by suburban, middle-aged, YMCA-goers. So I’m used to it. Generally it amuses me.

Hallowed, dips especially seem to draw the stares. Perhaps because the platform is elevated and one is really on display!

Today is likely a rest day, although skiing may happen.

Ah, I’m jealous you’ve got enough snow to ski on! It’s nothing but grass here and my skis have been sitting lonely in the corner.

Nice workout. 45s on the Kroc rows is huge!
