Tiny Freak Goes Ninja

You seem like a natural front squatter. That looked very comfortable for you in the video.

^ I concur!

Yup, I have far too much forward lean to be able to front squat properly. You don’t seem to suffer from that problem.

OMG i HAS NEVER HEARD of seated GMs!

Gawd I learned something today… of course I’ve only done GMs when I had a DL preventing injury… really interesting though! I may just hhave to try these for fun.

Lookin good front squatting there doll!

Did a bit of catching up–loving the work in here kimba!!

Cool vids–those front squats look pretty great, and the seated GMs are something I’ll have to try sometime.

Echoing the others - front squats looked great! And if I may, DAMN! Your arms are cut-up!! Amazing.

Great squat day, Kimba. Lots of good work in there! And yay to hip muscles strengthening up. Knee cave be gone!

Hi Kimba!

Joe, thanks for checking in!

DCA & Betty & Cal, I sure hope you guys are right. I am NOT a natural squatter, so it would help my battered ego if I could rock the front squats. However, I’m reserving judgment until there is actual weight on the bar.

Hallowed, please try seated GMs and let me know how they go. A video would be even better.

Juniormint! Great to see you back. I appreciate your thumbs up on the front squat…trial and error is how I’m learning them.

Maschy, I so love hearing your positive voice in here. Lifting for vanity’s sake isn’t bad, right?

PP, get another log already. I miss hearing from you!

Sunday’s training was a workmanlike effort.

Military Press Day (5/3/1)
49.5# 1 x 5
56# 1 x 3
62.5# 1 x 3 <–money set

I was very pleased with the money set. First time at this weight, but my all-time one-rep max PR is only 65 lbs., so getting 3 reps was happy-making.

BBB 41# 5 x 10

supersetted with

Chinups (on the Smith machine)
5/6/5/3/3 = 22 total

Ab Rollouts
41 lb. bar 1 x 2 <–failed on 3, too heavy
33 lb. bar 1 x 7
35 lb. bar 1 x 5
36 lb. bar 1 x 5

I used the little 28 lb. bar and put little plates on the ends. Much better than an ab roller, and obviously harder to pull a weighted bar back and forth.

Today was a day where I didn’t move from my office chair. A rest day, I guess.

So, today’s big news is that I registered for my very first 5K race! Its the weekend before Christmas (a Jingle Bell 5K), but I do not plan to dress up like an elf for it. The best news is that my hubby and I are doing it together…first race for both of us.

Back in January I wrote out a bunch of training goals for myself. Frankly, I doubted I would achieve any of them. However, one of them was to run a 5K. So, knock on wood, I might make at least that one before the end of 2011.

Fantastic news on the race. From the title, it sounds like a fun event so enjoy it!

Good job on the millies, too.

Awesome news about the race!!!

Money set looked good on the milies. I have a feeling you can break your old PR now.

Also, I totally think you should dress like an elf for the race.

I’m excited about your first race. You’re a good runner!

Congrats on that MP! And your first race is very exciting news! I hope it’s fun.

Kimba - I miss logging too. Maybe in the new year. And congrats on the OH Pressing! I’ve been making progress on mine too since we were talking about it on the Q and A thread.

And cool about the 5K plans! That’s fabulous that you are going to do that. Bucket list - Check! I really love the way you attack these things, even when they’ve been so hard in coming. You will feel like you are on the top of the world after that race, I guarantee.

Cal and Betty, this Jingle Bell 5K sounds like one big party. For example, there are cash prizes for the first man to finish wearing a full Santa costume and the first woman to finish wearing a full elf costume. Also, the finisher medals are bottle openers.

Joe, I think I might be able to MP more than 65 lbs. now, but probably only a pound or two more. My upper body gains come in tiny increments.

Snapper, thanks! This running thing has already surpassed my modest expectations for it.

Nadia, I’m excited for the race too! Hopefully it won’t snow, although it totally could given the time of year.

PP, I don’t check that Q&A thread regularly so I’ve missed your updates. I’ll remedy that. Although a new log sure would be easier…

Yesterday was a warm, beautiful fall day. Perfect for a run. I managed 4.8 miles at a 8:45 pace. My goal is to increase the run times by 2 minutes every run until I make it to 10K (6.2 miles) and then figure out a new goal.

I think I remember when you first started running…

Then the way you set your self up for success was incredible.

I love so much about the Kimba way. You inspire me still…

Jingle Bell Run sounds right up your alley, Im so happy for you!!!

I think you’d make one hot Elf, personally.

I’m enjoying the warmer weather. It’s been a nice fall so far!

X2!! And it sounds like its going to be good times! I love when training is fun again

Nice work on those MPs and chins. Woot woot!

If I EVER upload a video it WILL NOT be of something that will squishy my tummy all roley poley LOL! Strong Narcissus is strong.

VELLY VELLY NICE OHP! Thats GOT to be over half your BW.

That 5k is you. You own it. You set that goal now get it.

Here is an unnecessarilly deep COURAGE WOLF. But really let us all heed and take some action mkay? Oh look, I’m in PW… ACTION everywhere.

A race! Sounds like fun!

Though I can’t imagine the amount of sweat that would come along with a 5km race in a Santa suit… I think the elf women might have it a bit easier.
