Time Flies

Damn straight a PR is a PR.

have a Merry Christmas over there dude.

Just wanted to send you a Merry Christmas wish. I know way to well what it’s like being away from home during the holidays. Strangely, some of the Christmas’ I spend in the worst places were the most meaningful and memorable. When you’re away from all the traditional trappings, shopping, and rushing around it gives you time to reflect on what it really means. Hope you have a good day. Sending up a prayer for you.

Joe, Harry, thank you very much. Harry you are right. Being away form people tell you Christmas is supposed to be gives you time look at what it is. Its what you want it to be.

Kind of the advice my Dad gave me. I ended up not going in, but it is good advice.

Oh, he also said, learn Korean, it can come in handy.

Of course that was a different war. Though speaking Korean came in handy when he ended up doing forward fire control for the ROK dragon battalion. I miss my dad, thinking about things like this.

You take care. Strange to think of a war zone with a general order and no drinking at all.

I am using a 53lb bell and I’m 3000 feet up. I’m hoping that’s why I’m having so much trouble and not because I’m 40. Don’t know why that is messing with me as much as it is. I have a plan to do this in rounds. I got in up the to the third set of 25 swings and called it a day. It took 30 minutes just to get to that. I plan on getting to 2 parts work to one part rest. Sooner or later. Now its looking like later. And I’m also going to get to 4 rounds as a min. This is my cardio and I will do ti twice a week. I have another program designed for the second day.

Nice work and great persistence.

I’ve been searching for conditioning options and KBs have come up a few times. If I get some lighter ones I think even my kids and wife would enjoy them.

No motivation whatsoever in the gym. On squats the bar hurt my neck, my writs were killing me om front squats, just an overall crappy day. Now that I’m through crying about it, I did get pretty deep on mt set of 235.

Gitterdone KB’s are an awesome option. And they come in weights for all levels.

I could not get into Dips at all today. I am going to have to up the weight on my bench. I wasn’t wanting to, since it will be more than my squat. But this weight just isn’t challenging me at all. My squat is getting deeper, but the weight has gotten less. I will just have to keep pushing that up. I get the feeling I am going to be waaay more focused on my squat and deadlift totals than my bench. I am hoping to reach 1000 combined by late May or June when I come home for vacation.

I wouldn’t worry too much about your squat weight going down temporarily in order to go deeper, it’s a worthwhile sacrifice to make. I did the same thing a few months back and now I’m back up to where I was before. And “up” that bench press, don’t hold it back to try and keep your numbers balanced.

I’m confused. What constitutes “balanced numbers?”

This 400/300/500 strength ratio we’re supposed to aim for. I’m just saying you shouldn’t limit your bench because you’re afraid of it being heavier than your squat. Maybe balanced wasn’t the right word. Proportioned?

Brett, you are right, I should just lift what I can. My squat will catch up and pass.

That’s it. I did the I’m not doing jack shit accessory template. I was just beaten down today. My joints hurt more than usual. I don’t know if its the mattress, the altitude, being 40 or a combo of the three. I am going to get some fish oil sent to me and see how that does. It made my joints feel better last time.

3000 ft above sea level?? I’d have problems working a Pepsi can! Great work UN42!

Hey…I just happen to have some heavy-ass DBs (up to 150). Maybe that’ll work.

I live at 7,290.

And George? Shit, he must be 1,000 above that.

Anybody live/train at a higher elevation than Soldog?

my GPS puts me at 9600 feet. But your body acclimates after 6 months of sleeping and training at elevation, you’ll see the most benefit going back to sea level.
