I think ALL political junkies in America can support me in saying, “Russert was THE MAN”.
That’s horrible. He went so quickly.
That’s s such a shame, 58 is too damn young to go.
I saw Tim speak 8 months or so ago and thoroughly enjoyed his thoughts on his country, his craft, and his family – all of which he held a deep love and respect for. From a professional standpoint, he was perhaps the best we had at what he did – not sure who’s going to adequately fill those big shoes…
It is sad.
I enjoyed listening to him.

He was one of the last journalists who combined intelligence with professionalism and integrity.
Yeah, sad to see him go, it’s really weird as I saw him on TV not long ago, and now he’s gone.
This was a shocker, I flipped on the TV right after my workout and this was the first thing I saw. Mr. Meet The Press, right before Father’s day too. Tragic.
By the way, does anyone know what his politcal views were? They are still a mystery to me.

You’re not alone. It’s amazing in this day and age that we are in the dark about this. He truly had class.

He was a liberal - former press secretary for Daniel Patrick Monynihan. But he kept it out of his reporting. True professional, and by all accounts a very nice man. RIP.
A great, great reporter, and a man who loved his country.
I will miss Meet the Press, as I always looked forward to his work.
Again, a great man who will be missed. Thoughts and prayers to his family.
EDIT: one of the things I liked about Russert is that he loved American political life. You got the feeling he loved the red, white, and blue stripes, the buttons, Fourth of July parties, and bad versions of “Hail to the Chief” at humid, 100 degree rallies. He was a throwback.
He wasn’t cynical about it, and we don’t have enough people like that. Shame to lose one.
The Buffalo Bills fans are going to miss him too.
I just wish I heard him speak more often. Seemed very educated and intelligent.

It was very rare when his views appeared to slip through, unlike most of the rest.
He was a big Buffalo Bills fan too. Good man.
May he RIP.
His tribute on NBC was very moving. They sure put it together fast — a few hours after he died and they had a documentary on him. Kudos to NBC.
