Thoughts on Collective Guilt

Actually it’s me, ProX, Big Boss, and Lixy at an “Overcoming Racial Barriers” conference. We came in first place for “Funniest Costume.”

Russel Simmons CREATED the look that many people copy in Hip-Hop. His wife is influential as well when it comes to “Apple Bottom Jeans”. That means they consider his look a “non thug look” yet the people who dress like him to be thugs?

I could care less what Russel Simmons created. I could care less about the wider range of Hip-Hop look. The styles I’ve shown here recieve a much different sort of attention from me.

Then how and the hell do you expect anyone to buy your argument. YOUR BIASED. Like I said…YOUR perception of what a “thug” looks like are only based on your bad experiences in your personal world and are not general enough.

No, your biased against me and my life experiences.

Tell me how so…and I will apologize.
By attempting to belittle my rationale survival instincts developed through my real world experiences. By being absurd about burning your clothes, when I’ve said it a million times, that it’s not like I’d shoot your or yell for a cop, because you’re dressed up like “Tru Thugz.” Now, if it bothers you that I’ll watch where your hands are as you pass me by dressed like “Tru Thugz,” too bad for you.

It’s cute when people talk about the guilt and responsibility of White America in general, yet get offended at my judgement calls based on dress and attitude. Ok, I’m done hijacking “collective guilt.”

I’m dissappointed…I don’t get to apologize :frowning:

Thats not bias…thats disagreeing with what YOU YOURSELF has posted. Remember, you stated “My experience is life.” as if to BELITTLE my and other’s life experiences.

You’re whittling down from when you initially started this argument about what a criminal thug looks like…your stance has swayed. Oh,and I don’t dress like that, thank you. I don’t want to look like a thug.

Why haven’t people figured this out? It only takes a blink of an eye for someone to become a “criminal.”

Because violent street crimes aren’t being committed by the guys wearing dockers and button collar shirts.

lol…you’re funny

No, I’m experienced in life.

Well, you and billions of other people have something in common. Get real.

I’m being real. Unfortunately, some folks around here foolishly cling to PC sentiments. And, can’t even be honest. Neighborhoods aren’t being shot up by guys that looks like this. He isn’t the guy one worries about, because he’s behind you waiting to use the ATM. That guy isn’t going to rob me, or car jack me, or jump me with a bunch of his friends because he doesn’t like my pasty skin color.

Didn’t he work in the top echelon at Enron?Or Worldcom?

Oh no ,wait, that would be us white guys…

Since we’re talking crime and all that.

What?! I can take the white collar criminal to court, later on. Hopefully, in the scenario of a violent street crime, I’m not bleeding out from a gun shot wound. Than there is no recovery for damage if some thug has blown my brains out for the $20 I had on me… Ugh, please follow along.

Because of course all the people that lost their savings and pensions, they’re really capable of going to court and didn’t have their lives destroyed in the least…

What is it with you? I’ve been poor most my life! Guess what, I was still alive! Being poor doesn’t break facial bones and blind someone in one eye. A group of thugs will do that for your wallet. You see, I can recover from poverty (been there).

Of course, I’ll use any means avialable to watch for any white collar crimes that might snare me. But, I’m not going to get robbed at gunpoint by the guy in a business suit. I’m not going to sit there wondering if he’s going to let me go home. Or, if he’s going to ventilate my cranium, even if I cooperate, just to make sure I can’t give a description to the police.

Follow along.
Ah I see, that must be your all pervasive life experience coming to the fore.

Let me enlighten you a bit.A variation of what I’m about to describe has happened to three people that I personally know,so while it’s only anecdotal, they are corroborated.

Well dressed (business suits in two cases.Your beloved khaki dockers wearer in the other)stroll into a dealership, express interest in a particular car, blah blah…then off they go on the test drive, salesman in the car continuing his sales palaver. All is going swimmingly.

Well dressed customer pulls out gun, stops at side of the road and in two cases orders the guy out of the car.In the third he shoots first, pushes the guy out of the car.

Three successful hijackings, all well dressed, non thuggish looking perpetrators.

There are many more stories, all documented, but it just gets redundant. You
can get robbed, shot and all many of other by men in suits. In fact, they rely on your sterotyped thinking in order to do it.

Care to reassses?

Do you live in a city? Please, find your local crime blotter. The robbery’s and violent crimes, by far, aren’t being carried out by offenders wearing suits. The business suit gimmick is about as common as the Barbie Doll bank robbers.

Oh,and I don’t dress like “Tru Thugz” because…simply,I don’t dress like that. Mind you,I do feel some dress is age appropriate and also screams more about social acceptance in today’s society than anything.

Oh sure. The violent crime around your city is largely committed by folks in suits. Sorry, but I bet it’s but a blip on the crime scene.
