Thor's a Woman Now

I disliked them killing Peter as Spidey during Superior Spider-Man, but IMO it provided some interesting stories and it was alright. And Peter came back (surprise) and everything’s back to normal as usual. Yes this is a ‘stunt’, but DC does the same shit. This is what comics do. It’s to get some more viewership.

Yes there are solid female/minority characters but honestly, no one cares about them. People care about the Avengers. If you’ve read comics, you know this is temporary. My little sister loves comics, but her ‘choices’ of female characters aren’t nearly as plentiful as mine. It’s fortunate there has been some good Wonder Woman and She-Hulk story arcs, and while that’s awesome, she likes the Avengers but happens to hate Black Widow. So if they spend 6 months having Thor as a woman, and it brings in a few people like my little sister, I don’t see how this is a really a slap in the face to anyone. Is anyone here who is a huge Thor fan scared they will never get ‘their’ Thor back?
GAY.

So, you are going to completely change a character to bring in some new fans while losing some. When it goes back to normal they will lose some and get some back. Nothing will have changed.

And as it had been pointed out Thor is a person a man. It is not the hammer or neat helmet that make him Thor. You can make Iron Man a midget but, not Tony Stark. Batman black but, not Bruce Wayne etc.
Good one, man.

If nothing will have changed, than what does it matter? I’m not trying to be combative, I’m just saying that they’ve changed a ton to my favorite character Spidey. DC just made Dick Grayson, my 2nd favorite hero, into a lame ass secret agent instead of Nightwing. It’s just how comics are.

And I get the ‘Thor is a man’, but comics notoriously side-step little ‘hiccups’ like that all the time. They’ll retcon something at some point ant it’ll be ‘canon’. I remember having a reaction similar to some here before, but in the whole comic universe very few characters sell well or anyone gives a fuck about. So I see it as something that just ‘happens’.

EDIT: I’m not going to argue about this on the internet. All I’m saying is I can see where people are upset, but it’ll last like 3 months and it won’t matter regardless, and at worst it’ll get someone who wouldn’t pick up a comic to do so.

If they’d given Lady Thor a name that isn’t Thor and just treated her as the God of Thunder, then I’m sure there wouldn’t be as much controversy. God of Thunder can be transferred from person to person, since it’s a title, just like Robin, Captain America, or Nova. And unless Thor is literally stripped of his name and deemed unworthy, then Thorita shouldn’t be Thor, just ___________, The Goddess of Thunder.
Actually, they should just call it Goddess of Thunder…

I have always thought they missed the boat on the female angle by not giving Storm her own comic for a long while. Didn’t read the all female Xmen series (I don’t read many comics) but that seems like a pretty good idea to appeal to girls. The Xmen have some of the baddest chick hero’s of anyone. I just don’t get why you wouldn’t take someone established and make them a comic instead of screwing with one of your male audiences favorite hero’s.

Yeah that would have been awesome, considering she’s Omega level mutant. Plus her relationship with Black Panther could get him more exposure, as I hear they are pushing for a film for him as well.

Better hurry that Black Panther movie before he becomes a white, blond, valley girl, in fake leather!

It also seems the whole ‘She isn’t Lady Thor, she IS THOR’ is kind of just a misleading statement. Thor himself has just been deemed unworthy by something he’s done in Original Sin, and so he’ll be just wielding Jarnbjorn while this chick is the ‘worthy’ one to hold Mjolnir for awhile. So I guess they’ve just separated Thor Odinson the individual and the title of ‘Thor the God of Thunder’. So now it kind of just seems like they are milking two story lines with one ‘character’, and this is more like Dick taking over for Bruce as Batman in DC.

Now, if that’s the case, where someone is just taking on the role as the wielder of Mjolnir, so be it. No big deal. It will be exactly like you said with Dick or Jean-Paul wearing the Batman costume, which was a great part of the Knighfall storyline. Or even when Tarene or Eric or Bill took on Thor’s hammer.

I hope it’s just something that but then we have Miles Morales as Spiderman.

I know I missed a few years, but how can Angela be an Avenger? She’s image, isn’t she?

I don’t really care… I always thought Thor was kind of lame, it could only get better.

Correct me if I am wrong, but Neil Gaiman created her and has sold her/dumped her off to Marvel. That’s how it’s moved around.

And I loved the Thor storylines when J. Michael Straczynski was writing. Nice artwork, fun stories. I admit that I haven’t picked up much in the last couple of years and this new twist is not giving me much incentive.

Yeah she was like an archangel in Spawn and then Marvel got her and somehow retconned it to be Thor’s sister lol.

No actually he’s an anchor baby, he wasn’t “born” until his birthing matrix landed in Kansas.

Unless Thor went to Thailand for gender reassignment surgery, this isn’t Thor.

Thor can dress as drag and even turn into a woman, but this is a woman who takes the hammer from Thor and “becomes Thor.” Wonder Woman took the Hammer, didn’t mean she was Thor…dumb dumb dumb.

This is not Thor becoming a woman, this is a woman taking the hammer from Thor. Somehow making him unworthy of the hammer.

They’ll kick this around for 6 months or so and then everything will go back to the way it was. That’s about as long as I see them eating this financial loss.

Congrats girls, Marvel thought so much of your patronage that they shoehorned a female into a male character so that fans can look back and remember that stupid time when some chick pretended to be Thor for a few months and had zero identity of her own because her entire existence depends on you relating her to a male character. What a rousing success for the lady comic fans…
Pretty much ever comic con I go to I see around half and half of females and males dressed as Thor. But, I don’t think any of them dressed as a female thor…this just blows my mind.

If Thor is now a woman, and disney owns the property, does that make him/her a disney princess?

Short Answer; yes.
