No actually he’s an anchor baby, he wasn’t “born” until his birthing matrix landed in Kansas. [/quote]
lol
I have little to add to what has been said about the change. I just think Marvel keeps making the mistake of having to shoe-horn their stories for girls into the superhero genre. There is nothing stopping Marvel doing more slice of life stuff that could be 100% tailored to the PC crew. The tinkering with a genre that is majoritively read by males seems to be missing the point in more ways than one.
That being said, it’s Marvel, give it 4 months and watch the retcon hammer come out.

What I pejoratively read is Jezebel and the NYT.
Yes.
Used the wrong word, so I edited that. But I agree. I smell a little bit too much SJW in this change for my liking. I think the move is a cynical one, but the market will decide its efficacy.

Based on information obtained from various sources deep inside Marvel Comics, The Outhouse can exclusively report that the announced creative teams behind the all-new female Thor and black Captain America, which happen to consist solely of four white men, are feeling extremely satisfied with their efforts to introduce more diversity to an industry that has catered disproportionately to white men for a long time. “We’re really glad that women and African-Americans will finally have more high-profile role models in the realm of mainstream superhero comics, brought to them by some of the same white men who write and draw a vast majority of mainstream comics,” the teams reportedly agreed. “We literally cannot think of any other way in which this much diversity could be introduced into the industry, and we hope that Marvel gets the credit they’re due for allowing four white men to write and draw comics about a woman and a black guy.”
“If we could say anything to all of the black and female readers out there who are probably just as excited as we are to see a bunch of white guys create comics about characters who look more like them,” the white writers and artists all added, according to our sources, “it would probably be: you’re welcome.”

Translation, “We won’t create or put money on any new characters that are diverse, but we will co-opt current longstanding ones and give ourselves a pat on the back”
