Thor Movie Review

^ hahahahahahahahaha here you go with the maybe again.

I have no guy friends that live close to me, one is in Indiana and the other in Austin. Fact of life but I would rather go alone and see Thor than not see it and wait for DVD. I suck I guess.

The movie is rad, definitely go see it. Who cares if you see it by yourself? Movie theaters are super dark so no one will see your tears of loneliness

Oh I dont care I have gone to a bunch of movies alone, just wondering if other people would go see a movie alone or wait till DVD.

Edit: and did you just say Rad? Your not old enough to use that awesome 80’s word.

I think this summer will be one of the best summer movie seasons we have had in a long time…

Thor - now playing

Pirates of the Carribean - May 20 (I figure this can’t be that bad)

The Hangover 2 - May 26

X-Men: First Class - June 3.

Green Lantern - June 17

Transformers 3 - July 1

Captain America - July 22

Conan the Barbarian - August 19

Warrior - September 9

Underworld 4 - September 23

It’s gonna be a good movie season, and I haven’t gotten into the fall or winter yet.

About to get my Thor on in IMA 3D
Stop it please. Stop going to 3D movies.
I have to agree. The 3d actually took away from the experience. Every time he flew it looked fake as hell because it looked like a paper cut out flying straight at you.

Some scenes were ok, but overall it was just distracting.

I will be glad when this fad either dies out or they find something better.
If they would just start shooting them in 3D it would be worlds better. I think it will take a while for the rest of Hollywood to catch up to Cameron on this front. Not the first time that’s happened, either.
At the end of the day, the problem with 3D is the movie is too dark. I mean I saw tron in 3D and I kept taking off my glasses off to see the screen and FUck i felt jipped. The movie was so colorful but with the 3D it was so dark, it really undermines the color pallette of the movie.
same here, it was dark as fuck with the glasses.

I hope some more serious Oscar movies start coming out this year. All these super hero movies are nice but they ain’t no Social Network.

?

These movies are the only reason I would leave my comfortable living room and flat screen and head to a theater.

Hollywood needs to be kissing the asses of both DC and Marvel.

Maybe im just saying that because of how easy it is mess up the material when bringing it to the big screen.

As opposed to not making those movies at all ?

Professor,

Be not worries my friend, a time will come, in the not too distant future, where brand new releases can and will be streamed right into your cable box via pay per view. I talked with an industry insider on this, he said within no more than 5 yrs, you will see pay per view at home for new releases in theatres. I would probably still go to a theatre to see a great flick though.

Wouldn’t you rather have it that they did not make a Spiderman 3?

I agree Nothing beats going to theater to see a movie. Though people that bring there babies to the movies deserved to be punched in the face.

I was actually tempted to tell the parents of some badass yelling kids who were screaming to get a sitter next time. I don’t think it takes a genius to figure that in a movie like Thor, with explosions and action galore, that kids would scream. But when little Timmy steps on my foot because he is throwing a tantrum in the aisle, something needs to change. I swear, I don’t think kids like that would have ever made it if they had parents like mine. That, or hoping that little Timmy’s head runs into my knee…accidentally of course…maybe.

I watched Thor then Fast 5 immediately afterwards and I must say that Thor was a let down compared to Fast 5. Personally, I feel that a superhero movie should be about the journey of someone weak discovering their powers and often breaking the law to do the great good (see Hulk, Batman, and Ironman). Thor was already practically invincible to begin with. He was just a young man being punished by his father for a little while and got back his powers immediately when his father chose to give it back. He’s just a puppet under his father’s control. Also I found the development of his feeling for Natalie Portman and the worth of human life rather incoherent. Natalie just appeared to be some random slut that went for Thor’s body. Also, none of the women in this film are as hot as the ones in Fast 5. Seeing this in 3D was also blurry as hell. Loki had a very interesting ambiguous morality aspect to him, I loved when the gatekeeper renounced his citizenship as Asgard and tried to kill Loki, but the other characters were rather 1-dimensional. Odin was just a freaking deus-ex-machina in 3 fucking instances; that’s just beyond BS. I will admit that Thor looked pretty huge and the fight scenes were pretty badass. The movie would have been much better if it’s told from Loki’s perspective.

Fast 5 on the other hand had the Rock vs Vin Diesel fight scene, more hot bitches, and plenty of law breaking and compromises. I loved how the Rock’s complete no-BS attitude, but was able to help Vin Diesel when he saved his life. The Lego Robot camera scene and the bathroom explosive scenes were real clever. The best part is that I was introduced to Don Omar-Danza Kuduro, which has been played continuously for the past few days. Such a great song.
