Great movie. I completely agree with what everyone said about Loki though, he seemed more like a whiny toddler than one of the most fearsome characters in the Marvel Universe. Hopefully he’ll become more menacing if/when he comes back from the “dead” (as comic book characters seem to do just about every other weekend).
One thing mentioned earlier about the “Steroids!” line. To me, it was used more for comic effect, so I didn’t mind it too much. And as far as steroids in the Captain America movie, I actually hope they’ll be used. For one, steroids were what actually produced the change in Captain America in the comics.
And two, it’ll be nice for a character to use steroids to go do some good in the world for once, as opposed to just being portrayed as a dumb hooligan who goes off his rocker and puts a fist through a wall when someone blinks at him the wrong way. [/quote]
As far as Loki, had they played him like an all out villain, it would ahve looked cliched and corny…period. They played him like someone who actually thinks he is doing the greatest good…which is what the greatest villains are portrayed as.
That was why I liked Smallville as long as Lex was on there (Michael Rosenbaum). That was the first time they played Lex as a guy who was truly trying to do right but just kept ending up the bad guy until he simply gave into his role.
That type of villain is perfect and allows you to see them as more human than if they came out as the “all evil guy” from the start.
Now, they can go in a more blatant direction and it will fit better.
About to get my Thor on in IMA 3D

I have to agree. The 3d actually took away from the experience. Every time he flew it looked fake as hell because it looked like a paper cut out flying straight at you.
Some scenes were ok, but overall it was just distracting.
I will be glad when this fad either dies out or they find something better.

If they would just start shooting them in 3D it would be worlds better. I think it will take a while for the rest of Hollywood to catch up to Cameron on this front. Not the first time that’s happened, either.

At the end of the day, the problem with 3D is the movie is too dark. I mean I saw tron in 3D and I kept taking off my glasses off to see the screen and FUck i felt jipped. The movie was so colorful but with the 3D it was so dark, it really undermines the color pallette of the movie.
I think in this particular case it looked a tad better in 3d, as long as you didn’t tilt your head. In 2d some of the closeups and 2 shots looked a little blurry and dark.

LOL. There has been. She was apparently going to single-handedly destroy the movie.

They wont literally refer to steroids in the Cap movie, but the movie super soldier serum will be different from the comic book. I won’t spoil it but apparently Red Skull and Cap get different effects from the same formula. Hint: in the trailer, Steve Rogers is warned “not to change”.
It also goes some way to explain why Emil Blonsky turned into the Abomination in the last Hulk movie.

Yes. Loki was accurately portrayed in this.
-Spoilers-
He allowed the frost giants to steal into Asgard without Heimdall detecting them (as Heimdall admits) and before Odin told him he was Laufey’s son. Loki said that he manipulated Thor into engaging the frost giants just to “ruin Thor’s day”. Even when Odin told him of his origins he tried to play both sides and eventually betrayed his biological father (even though he seemed to be in league with him). Loki can move between realms without the need for the Bifrost (see his visit to Thor in the SHIELD encampment and his ability to parley with Laufey undetected) so he didn’t fall to his death when the bridge was destroyed and he was not motivated by revenge or to become ruler of Asgard. He has a greater plan (hinted at by the post-credits sequence).
-End spoilers-
Man this movie is one of the most fun movies in theaters to date. I saw it twice I want to see it again UGHHH…

Completely agree - in regards to Lex on Smalls. The greatest villains are the ones who have developed burdened by neccesity or birthright and their traits aren’t so overwhelmingly cliched that you spot them immediately as megalomaniacs. They are flawed; selfish, controlling, stubborn, etc… but truly believe they are in the right and will eventually stop at nothing to accomplish their goals - even if that includes stepping in to seriously grey areas a hero wouldn’t go near. Those traits are ones which we can relate to, to a certain degree.
You saw Lex try to be a better man, turn against his father, befriend Clark, but the passionate Luthor genes eventually won over. A very well rounded villain I thought and it was a shame to lose him from the series.

Just to clarify, I didn’t see it in 3D by choice, it was the only movie that fit my timeframe for seeing it today.
I am not a fan of 3D and had to take my glasses off several times because it was kinda hurting my eyes. There were a few scenes that looked cool in 3D but, in general, I think 3D is lame.
With all that 3D business behind us… The movie was sweet. I thought they did a really gold job. The actor playing Thor really pulled off the role and looked the part (physically) … Also, Natalie portman is incredibly good looking. She’s such a babe
I originally wasn’t going to bother seeing this, I thought it was too much of a takoff of Xmen.
but thanks to your reviews, I think I’ll put it on my list.
thanks~

This is a completely different movie. If I had to relate the pacing top anything, it would be the first Iron Man movie.
Whoever edited this movie tpgether deserves an award for that…because I am sure there are some scenes on the cutting room floor that would have fucked this movie up.
I saw it in both 2D and 3D, and I liked 2D better. Some of the fast paced action scenes were hard to distinguish in 3D, maybe this is my inferior brain at work.
What say you T-Geeks…is this worthy of adding to a DVD/Blu-Ray Collection?
^ I dont know cause work and family has prevented me from seeing it.
Chances are I will end up seeing it in 2D on my 50 inch Plasma in my Man Cave.
Who went and saw this movie alone? Some movies the wife will not go see cause she gets motion sickness, this could be one of those. So is it a sad lonely life to have to see a movie by yourself?

I only went and saw a movie by myself one time and I’ll never do it again. It was 13 Ghosts when that first came out and I was the only one in the theater!!! i dont get scared in movies but i kept hearing things and I may or may not have moved to the very back row so no one could sneak up on me… maybe.
