ESPN is an entity which is owned by the same assholes that brought us Wifeswap and Dancing with the Stars. This troubling development should come as no surprise.

it became acceptable when espn decided to devote weeks of air time to card playing, hours to eating, and I just saw the heading the other day that the National Rock paper scissor Championship will be shown this Saturday.
Did anyone else see any of the rock paper scissors championship? I tuned in for about 5 minutes and it is exactly what it says…a bunch of people playing rock paper scissors
absolutely ridiculous
Since we are on the topic, is anyone else perplexed that a piece of fucking paper can beat “rock”? Who thought up this shit and why did the world simply fall in line behind it? Were we running out of inanimate objects back then?
A list of much cooler inanimates that would make the game better:
A Cadillac Escalade
A pitcher of Kool-Aid (grape flavor)
Pamela Anderson’s breasts
Donald Trump’s hair
A pack of playing cards
A steak dinner
Nick Cage’s career
And lastly, a fucking giant transforming robot

Throw in Ronnies test bill and you have the official T-Nation board game.

Yes I’ve seen it and I am so glad it’s over. Who won? I really don’t care as long as they never do this ever again, unless of course Erin Andrews hosts the entire show next time.
Of course, all that’s left now is them reporting on who is holding out from training camp and how a player’s season is toast and his team isn’t Super Bowl bound because he stubbed his toe in August. rolls eyes

I second.
Actually, strike that (I don’t feel like sitting through that trash again). ESPN should just have picture-in-picture in the bottom corner of Erin Andrews wearing a thong bikini and just kind of dancing around and turning in circles during all of their programming.

Yeah, it is so stupid. I think it’s a waste of time, and I think they had to do something to increase ratings. The whole concept to me is dumb, but I’m glad it’s almost over.
Whoever wins (I’m assuming Tiger) the contest, do they even win anything (money, ESPY, trophy, etc), or is it ESPN telling us something we already know?
Generally I agree with everything else being said. Strongman competitions are pushed to odd timeslots, and are seemingly the only remnants of bodybuilding/lifting. I’ve seen some Arm Wrestling shit really spread out as well. It sucks that it all comes down to business and contracts, and ESPN being owned by Disney(yes ABC owned them, but Disney bought out ABC in '95 and got 80% ownership) doesn’t help.
It’s hard enough to break mainstream viewing habits as a network without being owned by a parent company obsessed with fads and popular culture.
The only good thing that came of “Who’s now” was the two segments where Jessica Biel was a guest “expert” that her and Kevin James where picked as “experts” (to promote what looks like an awful movie) just goes to show what ESPN has become.
Oh I almost forgot don’t forget to vote its down to the finals!! Lebron James vs Tiger Woods, the winner will be announced Sunday, I got my DVR ready!

Yeah, Kevin James and Adam Sandler didn’t give any worthwhile feedback on any matchup either. I personally thought Mike Wilbon was the only one who gave really good advice for the matchups.
I’ve already voted for Tiger Woods (who I picked from the very beginning to win the whole thing) and he’s gonna beat LBJ just like he did everyone else.
“Who’s Now” is just another reason why I don’t have cable anymore. I still use the ESPN website and I see this thing promoted on there all the time. Sounds corny.
Funny how football is the king of sports here in the U.S. and the finals of this so-called “tournament” have a golfer and a basketball player in it. Not that I don’t think Tiger and LeBron are two of the biggest stars we have today, but when you have a washed-up Shaq beating Tom Brady (they made sure to play that up huge on the site), you have to question the validity of the whole thing.
ESPN used to be a great station but they’ve become much more about entertainment the past 5 years.

Look up the definition of sport. They’re all sports. But that doesn’t mean they will draw enough viewers to make it worthwhile for ESPN to spend money to air.[/quote]
sport: (n) An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively.
what type of poker are you playing? physical exertion? maybe for a marathon game of monopoly, but that’s about it for table games.

Thanks for looking that up, I was planning to and really wanted to, but I was too busy practicing for the world series of circle jerking to be held on ESPN 2 after the spelling bee.

What kind of cheap, half-ass dictionary only has one entry for sport?
Did anyone see Friday afternoon that ESPN was showing ‘cup-stacking’? Teams of kids from all over the world competed in timed cup-stacking events. Never seen that before.
