Hey guys, is there ANYTHING I can do for this type of thinning hair? It’s on the top and in front. Please tell me there’s something I can do about it. Baldness does not even run in my family, which makes me wonder.
try googling it mate, there is a million websites devoted to it.
ive been losing my hair since 18, my solution was to just deal with it, now i just keep it at a number one length (its either that or a mad scientist do)
my only concern when i was younger was that i would get any action, i have since found this not to be true so dont really care too much.
for you since it doesnt run in the family though, might need some exta thought…could be stress/diet.
fuck knows, gooling it as maybe going on one of the hairloss forums is my best advice
The most successful treatments are minoxidil eg. rogaine, but get the kirkland brand since its exactly the same but alot cheaper and finasteride eg. propecia (1mg), but you can again get generic versions which are much much cheaper eg. cipla - fincar (5mg but split into 5) or finpecia (1mg) and others, which are the same but bypass the patent of propecia due to indian law; they are manufactured in india. However checkit out fully.
I noticed cutting back on the body’s DHT production, be it from the simple herbs like Saw Plametto to the chemical versions of finastride, helps to good extend.
Also i now use this shampoo my ex introduced me to, it costs like 10 bucks here in Canada(dont know about other countries). It is called Physique
Look into Nioxin. They have shampoos and conditioners. I think gels too. There’s men’s and women’s lines. If you’re not losing hair, it’s still good for making it really thick and healthy. If you are thinning, it can help.
My girlfriend uses the woman’s line. So, I would just use her shampoo whenever I showered there. It would always look really good. So, I bought the men’s stuff. It’s suppossed to kill the DHT on your head. Seems to work. Not too much more expensive than regular shampoo though you do have to find somewhere near you that sells it. Or just shave if off. I don’t really think it’s that big of a deal. I shave mine in the summer for comfort and convenience a lot anyhow.
Stay lean, and keep it cut short or like Nate suggested, take it all off. Mine stated creeping back a few years ago, keep it pretty much military style now, wife thinks it looks fine.
I don’t really look good with a shaved head cause I got pretty good sized schnoz and a somewhat weak chin. But I would love to keep it shaved, it just doesn’t look as good as a head of hair on me. I think I will look into the Nioxin, and I believe Rogaine is for the “vertex” or top-back of the head, where I don’t seem to be losing any hair. Thanks for the replies guys.
My wife just bought some of that Nioxin shampoo today! She specifically stated that it was for her use and not because she wants to prolong the inevitable…bald husband! Sure honey; I bet she washes my hair with the shit tomorrow morning! (I typically just run the bar of soap over my head!)
The Nioxin is a good recommendation. Other possible solutions include:
Spironolactone - Inhibits androgen action where applied, not systemic. Good for preventing hairloss from cycling “pro-hormones” that are already 5 alpha reduced (DHT derivative that undergo conversion back to DHT via unkown mechanisms) or ones that do not undergo any conversion.
Azelaic Acid - DHT inhibitor, which I believe is supposed to be systemic when applied .
Minoxidil - Used for regrowth, same stuff as in Rogaine. After initial use of minox shedding will increase for a period of time, this will curb later as it stimulates regrowth.
Retinoic Acid - Also used for regrowth.
Finasteride / Dutasteride - 5AR inhibitors, obviously systemic. Inhibition of DHT throughout the body may have larger implications rather than just curbing hairloss. Use more as a last resort rather than a first line defense. Also if using this option go with proscar or other 5mg tabs, then just cut them up into 4 or 5 parts. Saves you a lot of money compared to the 1mg tabs.)
Just let it go. Buzz it and build your confidence from there. You’ll end up spending $$$ on all those treatments and “formulas” and truth be told they all suck in the real world. Sure you may get seemingly thicker hair with less falling out here and there, but in the end you’re just fooling yourself. If it’s going to go, it’s going to go and don’t let the door hit it in the ass on it’s way out. See my point? Build your confidence, bro.
Besides, do you want to be the guy with a dozen different hair restoring products in your medicine cabinet? How insecure and pathetic is that? I gave up on it a long time ago. When i buzzed my head i fealt stress falling away with each strand and loved the new me.
BTW: all the products mentioned have to be used for life!!! FOR LIFE!! You can never stop using them, never ever ever… In the end if you really suffer with this you can save up for transplants.
My problem was taking an anti depressant called Lexapro. Who knew it would thin my hair in half in six months. Finally got off of it and my hair has thickened back up.
