Thinking of Quitting TRT, Need Advice

This is something that has confused me. Seems I’m primary hypo, but not sure how this would have suddenly onset in my thirties? From my research, secondary hypo is what seems to crop up with old age, and primary is usually something that you have early on from puberty (unless some damage occurred to my boys, which I don’t recall any recent trauma down there).

I hope you reach the top of the mountain. It is great. Instead of driving yourself nuts, start injecting daily in smaller increments and see what happens, or do big doses and see what happens. But you cant bitch about the fact that it takes time to really let things settle into something that works. Getting dialed in is not luck, its about figuring it out. But guess what? It takes time. But yeah go ahead and bash the guys who do have it right…smh

Sorry, can’t help with my douchebaggery

How else do you dial in multiple compounds at the same time without isolating them? Seems pretty tough to me. Lots of people do better going back to just T and starting there

Sorry, that was poorly worded. I’m referring to people who treat others like idiots when asking for advice. Not all people who are dialed in, clearly. I’m really happy when I see a post where someone figures things out and can finally get dialed in. But I do feel that there are a lot of “experts” on here who love to dole out advice without taking into account how different people react to TRT/hormones.

Oops, meant to direct this to @ncsugrad2002

Well, my first 6 months of TRT I used no AI and was a bloated and emotional mess. I only introduced small doses of AI somewhat recently, and I believe it has actually improved some things (most notably erection quality and I no longer feel like an emotional train wreck). Now I have great boners during sex, but lack sensation. Also, I’ve gone a couple of weeks here and there without HCG, but didn’t like my boys shriveling up like raisins and the accompanying dull ache- plus I just didn’t feel as good without it. Orgasm quality has sucked since I started TRT, but HCG does seem to improve this somewhat (when I’m using it).

This notion that you can’t inject T more frequently because of high SHBG is not universal across the board.

Got it, I’m not opposed to trying this. I’d love it if I could retain the benefits of TRT with none of the crappy sides that I’m dealing with. At this point, having slightly more energy, libido and better gains in the gym is not worth the numb dick, crappy orgasms (when I can reach orgasm- which takes forever and seems like work) and bacne.

What good is a higher sex drive if the sex isn’t pleasurable, and who cares about slightly better body comp when I don’t even want to take my shirt off because of bacne…

Been there for sure… it’s how I ended up going down the TRT road in the first place. Lasting longer sounds great until you experience that it’s basically because you can barely feel anything, which kind of negates the whole enjoying it part. It sucks. I’m still not 100% on that part but am way better than how I started. Hopefully you figure out what works for you to give you the best of both worlds.

Can anyone on the forum help me understand my pre TRT labs? Based on the results, does this mean I’m primary hypo? If so, what might have caused this? I cant seem to find much info on primary hypo that is onset in adulthood, outside of testicular trauma and radiation (both of which I think I can rule out).

If possible, I’d like to look for any underlying issues that might be responsible, as my low T symptoms came on fairly quickly over the course of about a year.

I don’t think you were primary or secondary in your initial labs. You testosterone was just low normal (this is okay, and many including myself started TRT with low normal TT and FT). Your LH was actually high normal (which is what is mostly responsible for testosterone signaling). If picking between primary and secondary, the evidence points more towards primary (high normal LH, with slightly low TT and low normal FT).

Thanks for the reply. I keep wondering if I jumped the gun on TRT, since all of my low T symptoms came on fairly quickly. I keep going back to, what could I have done to raise my levels and feel better naturally (my whole adult life I’ve worked out regularly, live a healthy lifestyle, supplement zinc, vid d, etc…).

Don’t get me wrong, TRT has definitely alleviated some of the symptoms I was dealing with (mostly energy and mood), but I also feel like getting on TRT has caused me to trade one set of problems with another. Now, I have more energy and am generally in a better mood, but I have sexual performance and satisfaction issues and bacne (which I REALLY hate) which were never a problem before. Plus, having to constantly poke myself with needles and take medication with me everywhere is no fun. Not to mention, I now feel like TRT and its effects are something I’m constantly thinking about, which is a distraction and I feel like messes with me psychologically.

I think that is normal. For myself, I could have made it without TRT, but for me the benefits outweigh the negatives.

Also normal. I came to the conclusion that to get to average I would have to likely live like a monk. My T was slightly lower than yours for TT, and almost the exact same for what counts FT. I also worked out 4 days a week, and didn’t live too terribly. Probably pretty typical for 30 Y/O males. I should be able to have normal testosterone and be able to go out and have a few drinks once a week. That is just my opinion.

I didn’t have much sexual issues before other than lack of morning wood. I didn’t get issues with TRT. I do have more energy, but still lack concentration. We are all different, and don’t respond the same. It might take some experimenting to get everything right.
