Things That Piss You Off

Yeah, I’m the same. I even often bring back other people’s carts. Once I even got to talk to someone who just left their cart in the parking and was walking away. I politely asked him “Do you mind if I return YOUR cart for YOU?”

Sadly, he didn’t seem to catch my sarcasm.

Those who use slip leads or prong collars on their dogs.

Is a slip lead a choker?

If so, Ive used them a little bit for training, but they aren’t necessary after a couple weeks at most. Anything past that isn’t training, its using the wrong thing the wrong way.

Yeah. Same thing really.

Yeah, I looked them up after. They look like a bad idea in general, like they aren’t going to be used correctly by default.

I used a choker chain on my neighbors rambunctious lab to teach her to walk, sit, stay, etc. But it only took a few sessions. Like and hour a day, a few times for each command.

Since I am looking to train my new puppy I have been looking at methods and one of the big YouTubers uses it a ton for training but it looks horrible.

It might be for that. I used it on juveniles and one adult dog, but they’re sturdier and more able to be focused than a puppy.

Also never been a fan of choke style collars but can see a reason to use one if you are competent; which I am not, so I don’t use one.

I am also currently trying to train a pup so if you all come up with a good alternate solution I am all ears. My dog doesn’t pull hard or anything like that while on a walk which is nice, but he is all over the place on the leash forcing me to constantly unwrap myself from the leash or switch hands.

My current plan is to get a shorter lead and be diligent with training him how to heel using positive reinforcement with small treats. Hoping this will sort the problem out.

I need to find a good dog training book so if anyone has good recommendations that is appreciated.

Not my first dog and grew up with them all my life but usually a lot of these issues ended up working themselves out in the past, haha. Guess I would rather do it better this time around and try to learn something more about the process.

I don’t need my pup to become a “working” dog, but a pup with great manners who also enjoys the structure in his life would be welcome.

I’m by no means a reference on the subject, but I just used Cesar Milans stuff from youtube. Pretty simple techniques, worked very well.

Got a rambunctious untrained 9 month old lab in line within a week. Made the vid to send to the neighbors as an update while they were on vacation.

The border collie was like year before last. He’s like a super eager to please mind reader. Amazing pooch!

I believe he uses shock and prong collars.

Oh man I like both those breeds. Spent a lot of time hunting pheasant behind labs. They are great dogs but what dog isn’t!

Maybe? :man_shrugging:t2: i dunno. I just used the choker/leash techniques.

Oh yeah! Those two are awesome! I think all dogs want to be good, we just need to show them how.

Well, today my doberman and I got charged by a big mutt on a halter and harness combo. He stayed in place while I kicked and smack the mutt before giving it a chance to bit us.

I will use proper tool when in need. My dog walk in a flat collar now but at one point I needed more but he had all the basic in place but found he could drag me.

I never thought I’d vent on the internet about my mom, and I started writing a whole thing but I don’t have the energy to get detailed.

Wave tops are: she’s financially illiterate and always has been, in suffocating debt, and can’t get a consolidation loan on her own to try to climb out. I feel like the victim of my own “success” because I financially support her constantly and now she wants me to cosign or take a loan out for her. I obviously need to draw the line but I’m finding it hard to do so.

My MIL is financially illiterate. My wife’s siblings support her more than we do. We’ve pitched in here and there for stuff like house repairs, but I don’t want to get into a monthly payment to her. I wouldn’t be opposed to helping her out monthly if she actually needed it, but she doesn’t. By that I mean I won’t support someone financially that has a higher standard of living than I do. She lives in a luxury retirement community (the HOA alone is $800/month), leases SUVs every 2 years, has cable TV and internet, shops at expensive grocery stores, and buys unnecessary stuff. She isn’t way over the top or anything, but I can’t bring myself to pay for stuff that I personally don’t and think is far too extravagant for someone scraping by.

My parents, and one aunt and my grandma support one of my uncles financially. About $500 a month total. He has been poor his whole life. He is borderline disabled, and not very bright. I hadn’t had an issue with this until recently when he showed up at for Christmas with a new Lexus SUV. I suppose that is pretty much the only nice thing he has had his whole life, but still to me it’s not a great look when you are getting money from other people to put food on the table and keep the lights on.

I would be upset that someone put me in the position of having to make that kind of decision.

Me too, and I encounter this at work sometimes with the children of irresponsible older adults. The diligent ant is now expected to take care of the foolish grasshopper.

Shitty female rap music.

When I hear it, it makes me want to transform into a pale lanky humanoid creature and start screeching violently at 2 am in the middle of the empty parking lot.

Lauryn Hill is fantastic. And there are some more current female rappers today who have songs that I like, but it’s usually just a song or two, not entire albums. For the most part, it all sounds the same.

I think that about more and more music, regardless of genre.

But she can actually sing. Rap is a genre that requires the least amount of musical talent. You really don’t need any as you can just use samples. You can use a real professional drummer’s beats. A real guitarist’s riffs. A real songwriter’s melody. I’m not saying it’s all crap or unlistenable but it is simplistic and not very dynamic and often derivative. There is a reason why it’s marketed to children. I question any adult who seriously listens to music whose target audience is 12 years old.
