Actually Midwest is right, but Sunday afternoon and we have 2 parks. One is prog, other is pretty badass by most standards in the East. No tow rope, 2 quads service it. Top 2 kickers are 20+ footers and third is closer to 30. Nobody ever goes to the prog park, they just crowd the main park, roll the jumps, get in the way, and get hurt.
Good work passing some knowledge down. IMO, kinda like golf, skiing/snowboarding is something you should be at least functional at. Enough to have a good time.
There is a saying in surfing that the best surfer in the lineup is the one having the most fun. It for sure applies to snowsports as well.
Yeah, Iāve had a great time with it, and it was nice to see the kids get into it.
This winter marks 30 years since I started, but I havenāt been out in a few. Iāve had a few hiatus in the past, and by now itās like riding a bike. It just takes a couple of runs to get warmed up.
Iām looking forward to when we start taking the kids to Colorado for vacations. Theyāre 3 and 6 now but I want to wait til the youngest can be a part of it. Weāre getting close.
The downside is that my aunt sold her townhouse so now weāll have to pay for lodging. The upside is that I can choose a place close to the slopes and eliminate the 45 minute drive we had each way.
Iāve always wanted to take a trip out west. It might take a while.
Fortunately Iām only about 45 min. from a nice resort. Havenāt gotten the kiddo into it yet, but it will happen in due time. He has only just this year started liking playing in the snow. Previously heād look, dabble a little, then zoom back in the house and not even think about it again for days.
Currently pissed that I am starting to seriously consider hoarding a bunch of non-perishable foodstuffs. And because my thinking that other people are stupid and they will start panicking has me considering being stupid and start panicking.
I never understood people that get pissed in the car with every little thing, like go seek some damn proffesional help or help yourself buy a gunā¦
Like jezus christ thereās worse shit in the world to be upset about, take your calming pills.
I am of the opposite, in that I wish people would be less cavalier when operating their 2000lb murder machines.
Like, at least put down the phone and use a turn signal. I think those 2 things alone would lower my blood pressure substantially, Haha.
My best friend growing up just landed himself in the hospital. He goes HARD skiing, goes all out every time. Went for his āone last runā after a long day of skiing, and hit ice, landed on his back. Tried to get up and realized he was in excruciating pain. Turns out, somehow, without breaking any ribs, he literally split one of his kidneys in two, had to have a couple surgeries to stop the internal bleeding, is on a fuckload of pain meds, spent 9 days in the hospital before he was released. Crazy.
Oooouch.
These resorts in the mid atlantic/North East get downright deadly once the sun sets and everything freezes up again.
The grooming machines spit out these death chunks- like half a cinder block sized chunks of ice that are virtually invisible. On the odd chance that you hit/crash/land on one or god forbid one gets flipped up by a tip- youāre in a world of pain.
ātake a lap and decide at the bottomā
Never, ever, ever call last run.
One of the nice things about skiing 50+ days/year at a mtn that gets 500"+/year is I only get sendy when conditions warrant it and when Iām feeling good. I donāt bounce like I did in my early 20ās. I donāt feel the need to push it, even on pow days, if Iām not feeling it as there will be another soft snow day in a matter of days.
Iāve been fairly lucky the past 5 years (comparitively) and only had 2 injuries of note, each with 8week recoveries: Fractured the head of my fibula and tore meniscus and MCL. I put it down to being fairly choosy when to ski at or above my limit.
Never had to have patrol bring me down in the blood bucket though. Vibes to your buddy. Internal bleeding is no joke.
Untidy wirings on car, that really pisses me off.
That is crazy. Sending good vibes and whatnot.
Fucking ground loops in wiring. I built myself a guitar (flying V, left-handed) because the cheapest I could get a lefty Gibson-style V was 700+. Kit was $150. It went together fine and the guitar itself kicks ass. But I canāt wire anything and keep developing a ground loop in the electronicsā¦
Wholesale unwiring it today and have 30 feet of Gavitt wire (the wire used on $3k+ guitars) on its way to try and re-do it correctlyā¦for the fourth fucking time.
The most important part that will prevent clicky noise, intermittent failures and about a million other little gremlins is good soldering or mechanical/molex connections.
Agreed. But this one is poor circuit design on my part ![]()
I have been in the hospital with pancreatitis since Sundayā¦
The treatment is donāt eat anything and try not to pass out from the pain.
I think I am on the upswing now though.
Jeeeeeesus dude. Programmer at my old job had pancreatitis and within a day he was in a medically induced coma, stayed pretty much sedated for nearly a month and nearly died. Glad youāre okay, hope your recovery is swift.
Thanks
They are looking to discharge me today and I am feeling almost my normal self.
This is actually the second time I have had this. First time was due to a non-functioning gall bladder 3.5 years ago
You sure thatās why youāre in the hospitalā¦?
Seriously though, that sounds like it sucks. Hope all is well.
