Maybe Iām mistranslating but everything I see says shaitan means demon. Does it not? The perp also claims to have been possessed by a demonic force. Thatās what makes me think psychotic break.
Prayers after committing a murder mean the murderer was religious. Not much else. Unless those prayers weāre about killing Jews etc.
Maybe Iām missing something but it doesnāt appear this heinous murder is being classified as antisemetic by the French courts.
IDK, something we can probably agree on is that the punishment is currently far to lenient and does not fit the crime.

I donāt know if itās antisemitic or not. The entire concept of āhate crimeā is rather stupid to me, as a lawyer. Murder is murder. Motive should be irrelevant.
That said, itās really the defendant who injected Judaism into his crime, in kind of a āJudeophobic panicā defense.
Recall the various defendants in the USA who get blow jobs from some dude while they are stoned, freak out, and then beat the blower to death? They claimed āgay panicā as a defense against premeditation to get their crimes reduced to manslaughter? Worked and didnāt work, depending on the case. Some states are making the defense invalid.
