My problem isnt the action, its the reaction.
I totally get it. The kids 16 and doesnt want to receive assistance from his father for driving lessons, and hates the way he reacts. No bigger sympathiser than me. My dad was exactly the same. Matter of fact, when I received my provisional license, I drove my mum to the shops and I drove over the speed limit by 2 km/h. My dad caught wind of it, and asked me to drive him down the road. On that drive he belted me over the head and gave me a barrage of abuse. Told me in shortened terms that If I ever drove like that again with someone else in the car, heād put me in the ground. Say what you want about it but I sure as hell never did it again and still dont too this day, I understood that the lesson he was trying to teach me wasnt literal, but I owned my mistake.
The reaction of this kid not thinking about his actions, being made to look like an idiot then deleting his comments when he gets over his tantrums (which he has a very well known reputation for) is what irritates me.
Not having a dig at you in any way @jshaving, just explaining my opinion.
Not at all offended, you are free to feel however you want to and can voice those opinions!
I get it now, though.
Oh, and btw, these ākmā you speak of? We use good ol-fashioned miles around these parts. You know, Godās measurement system.
Yep. All you gotta do is leave America, find the first under-35 pussy you can, make sure it doesnāt judge you for not being succesful enough, and bang it. Then leave.
God bestowed upon man the gifts of reason and logic, should we choose to exercise them. In our emerging wisdom, we evolved, through trial and error, ever improving measurement systems through the exercise of the aforementioned gifts. We find ourselves at a crossroads where we must recognize, using said gifts, the superior system which has been developed - imperial (or US) or metric system. Give the vast majority of scientific measurements, used for precise measurements, employ the metric system, one must conclude, through our God given gifts, referenced throughout this bit of random rant, that the US system is utter trash when compared to metric. Itās still serviceable for those who choose to ignore those Divine gifts and live in the darkness of ignorance, but for those who choose illumination, itās metricā¦
Unless youāre building a birdhouse in shop class ⦠then itās 16th and 32nds for you.
I grew up with metric, but genuinely prefer Imperial for building things. Being able to cleanly cut things in 1/4 or 1/3 and having a whole number measurement (generally a 3 or a 4) is awesome.
But what do I know, I have a little farm that is measured in ādunamsā ā talk about a stupid measuring set up.
If you wonder where land fights come from in the ME, this is a part of it.
A ādunamā is like an acre, but a ādunamā is: (1) the amount of land that could be plowed with a team of oxen in a day; (2) forty paces in length and breadth; (3) 900 square meters; (4) 2500 square meters; (5) 1000 square meters; or (6) 919.3 square meters, all depending on who wrote the deed, when, where, and to whom.
The English had nothing on the Ottomans and Romans for screwy measurements.
Not sure. I think there was some variance in the āpaceā (literally the stride length of some local bigwig at the time). I suppose it depending if was a tall lordling or a short lordling making the grant.
It even varies on a hill or broken ground (which is harder to plow) than flat land.
Regardless, it is literally the dumbest, most arbitrary, system of measurement in the history of the world. The whole West Bank/East Bank was, in small part, because there were conflicting grants of land (that were in turn referenced when creating country lines).
Now, it mainly comes into play in East Jerusalem, where you have fights over which family owns what block or city plot, even completely ignoring the nationalist issues going on. Itās a crowded area where a couple of meters in a lot is a real issue because the buildings are built up to lot lines.
Or in the Golan, where my grant comes from the Rothchild estate (French) from some Ottoman Turk (Turkey) who sold it to them in the 1700s.
Weāre a metric country but our industry, roofing, is still sold and estimated in imperial measurements. eg. bundles per square. When I get metric plans, they are a pain in the ass.
finding a pair of athletic shorts that are neither too big like basketball shorts or too short like running shorts for a reasonable price.
These fucking major clothing companies know that people that look for this have disposable income and so they price gouge them? is that it? I donāt get how basketball shorts can be so cheap, but something respectable for the gym are a fortune?
Fucking ridiculous. This pisses me off.
I know some alternative brands have come out like Gym Shark but that little symbol is so corny, and watching all the young kids wearing it kinda turns me off from it despite the quality being pretty decent.
I found a pair of pumas at Marshallās like 6 years ago thatāll have to disintegrate for me to stop wearing them ⦠I have the same problem ⦠doesnāt piss me off but it is annoying
