Can I read it?
Sure. When you click on my profile does it show up as private? I made it private at one point because…that one coach…was getting too trigger happy with his angry emails, but I can’t tell if it’s still private or not.
Yeah it’s still private. Tbh I never knew there was an American Indian Movement. Unrelated but, a couple weeks ago in my African Diaspora class I learned about Marcus Garvey and his Pan African movement
I can’t figure out how to make it public on my phone. I’ll post my email in your log and delete it later. It has my name in it but I really don’t mind, I’ve got a very small online presence. I’m too lazy to create an anonymous email.
Many people have no knowledge of AIM. Part of why I want to write something about it. I don’t like pan- (African, Native, whatever) movements but completely understand why they are used and become popular. It’s cool stuff to learn about, for sure.
That’s alright dude. Personally, I actually like the concept of Pan-Africanism.
I went to one of my close friend’s graduation party this afternoon. His family and other friends were there as well. He even cried a couple times out of happiness at the party. It makes me happy being there for him.
The ability to be genuinely happy for someone else like that is a great thing, and speaks to your character.
I think I can feel this way guilt-free since you don’t actually seem bothered by it, but I still find this so, so hilarious.
I baked a bread tonight. Nothing special, just spontaneously felt like it. Ate it with butter, fresh out of the oven.
Then it hit me like a truck: The taste reminded me of the white bread (Toastbrot) my grandmother used to bake!
Suddenly I was set back in time by 20+ years and I wished I would have liver sausage and the disney cutting board with all the characters from snowwhite and the dwarves (I think?). Grandma cut the bread (with butter and liver sausage on) into little squares, each covering the face of one character and I would uncover them all if I ate up. We continued this even when I was probably “too old” (hence why it’s “20+”). She enjoyed the occasion probably more than I did at the time but god damn that bread was tasty.
I don’t know if this makes me happy or sad. Just emotional in an undefined way.
I will definitely ask my mum if she has the original recipe to grandma’s bread. I haven’t had it in so long…
Nostalgia?
Maybe. But doesn’t hit the spot for me. I never thought about nostalgia as a feeling… More as a state of mind/ perspective if that makes sense?
To each their own.
I don’t really see the need to name the feeling anyways, so that’s fine.
Reminiscence? (Ok I’ll stop lol)
It is hilarious. I’m still paranoid that somehow he’ll see if I mention him and the fact that that even crosses my mind makes me laugh.
The relief from closing the seemingly thousands of tabs after finishing a lengthy project.
Two profs told me I have a shot of getting into HBS straight out of UG
Research programme is officially over.
This has been an amazing summer.
I posted this in my log but I thought I’d share it here
My supervisor was super happy with what I’ve done and has agreed to write me a (hopefully strong) recommendation letter.
I also got this
A tenured HBS prof used all caps and 3 exclamation marks
I also got to speak with one of my academic heroes earlier this summer and had a wonderful 30 min conversation about powerlifting with another. On Tuesday, I’ll be meeting (remotely) with another prof who’s one of my friend (that one)’s academic heroes.
Programme aside, I got to speak on a webinar to HR professionals, made it halfway through a real analysis course, went to 9 restaurants- three of which were with friends. I also completed drafts of 3/6 statements of purpose and set the plan for research club for next year, including booking 3 profs to speak.
For the first time, I don’t feel behind
Now it’s three days off before I speedrun linear algebra in 2 weeks so I don’t die in Micro….
My dorm fitness center has plates, a power rack, machines and dbs up to 100 lbs. At least 2 other dorm’s fitness centers consist of 3 treadmills and 2 ellipticals
sweet!
I am going to meet my academic hero tomorrow!!
Finally getting back into the gym after 2 or so weeks lay off post pinched nerve in back.
